Altamont Falls in OT to Illini Bluffs at State Tournament

The Altamont Lady Indians fell in overtime 60-48 to Illini Bluffs at the Class 1A Girls State Basketball Tournment Thursday morning. The contest was heard on KJ Country 102.3 and www.kjcountry.com.
The Lady Indians will now turn around and play in the third place game tonight at 6:30pm against Peru St. Bede, who lost in the other semifinal game, 44-30, to Okawville. We will also broadcast that game from CEFCU Arena on the Illinois State University campus on KJ Country. Illini Bluffs will play Okawville for the 1A state title Saturday at 11am.
Altamont led for much of the game but Illini Bluffs surged in the fourth quarter to force the overtime, then outscored Altamont 14-2 in the extra period to post the win.
Altamont's Grace Nelson scored 32 points and Kaylee Lurkins added 11 points. Also for Altamont, Claire Boehm scored four points and Peyton Osteen scored one point.
Altamont 40% from the field, hitting 16 of 40 shots including 4 of 19 on threes. The Lady Indians made 12 of 17 foul shots, turned the ball over 11 times, and grabbed 25 rebounds.
Altamont is now 27-7. Illini Bluffs improved to 32-4.
