Altamont Downs N. Clay, SEB Falls To Webber Township

The Indians held a 12-5 lead over North Clay in the opening contest as Aden McManaway went on a six point run while Kaidyn MIller added four.
The Indians moved that lead to 25-14 at halftime. K. Miller connected on two more baskets and two free throws for six in the quarter while Eli Miller and Kade Miller hit two free throws and Alec Jahraus a three-pointer.
The two teams played to a 13-13 third quarter. Ethan Kuenstler led the Cardinals with seven points.
North Clay went on a 19-16 final quarter run only to fall short. Jesse Weidner put in seven points while Kuenstler hit two three-pointers.
But Altamont kept control of the contest. Kaiden Davis nailed a three-pointer and two free throws for five in the quarter while K. Miller added on six more.
Miller finshed with 21 points on seven field goals and seven of eight at the line. McManaway added 10 points on four field goals and two of six at the line.
North Clay was led by Kuenstler with six field goals, half of those from three-point range, for 15 points. Weidner chipped in with 14 on six field goals, one from three-point range, and one of one at the line.
In the second game of the evening, Webber Township (Bluford) ended St. Elmo/Brownstown's season with a 57-49 victory.
The opening quarter was a slow scoring affair as Webber edged out to an 8-6 lead.
Both teams got on track in the second quarter but Webber held a 23-17 halftime lead. Nathaniel Marlow connected on two three-pointers and a free throw for seven in the period.
Atwood led the Eagles with seven of his team's 11 points on a basket and five of six at the line.
The Trojans kept on track with a 15-14 third period to lead 38-37. Marlow went on a tear, hitting three from beyond the arc and a regular basket for 11 points.
Meanwhile St. Elmo/Brownstown's Atwood kept the Eagles in the contest with a three-pointer, two regular baskets and three of three at the line for 10 points.
Atwood continued on in the final quarter with 10 of his team's 18 points, but it was too little, too late as Webber Township had a 19-18 edge for the eight-point winning margin.
St. Elmo/Brownstown was led by Atwood with 27 points on nine field goals, one a three-pointer, and eight of 10 at the line. Collin Maxey tallied eight.
The Eagles ended the season with a 22-10 record.
Webber Township was led by Marlow with 30 points on eight field goals, six from three-point range, and eight of nine at the line. The Trojans connected on 21 of 25 free throws.
Altamont and Webber Township will meet at 7 p.m. Friday for the regional championship and a berth in the Effingham St. Anthony Sectional.

Class 1A Casey-Westifeld Regional
Tuscola opened the evening at the Casey-Westfield Regional by trouncing Martinsville, 63-18.
In the second contest, Casey-Westfield pounded Chrisman, 98-31.
Tuscola and Casey-Westfield will meet Friday for the regional championship and a berth at the Effingham St. Anthony Sectional.
