Father McGivney Downs BSE In Girls Regional Title Game

MOUNT OLIVE -- St. Elmo/Brownstown's season came to a close in the Class 1A Mount Olive Girls Basketball Regional Friday in a close contest.

The Eagles fell to Father McGivney, 47-45.

BSE held a 10-7 opening quarter lead as Dayana Haslett scored five points while Lexi Seabaugh chipped in with a three-pointer.

Both teams got on the scoring track with 20 points each in the second period. Seabaugh scored 10 of her team's 20 points while Haslett nailed two three-pointers and two free throws for eight.

But here came Father McGivney in the third quarter with an 8-5 run to tie the score at 35-35. SEB scored one lone basket by SEabugh and three free throws, two by Haslett and one by Madi Miller.

Father McGivney then kept the momentum and had a 12-10 final quarter run to pull out the two-point victory.

Brownstown/St. Elmo was led by Haslett and Seabaugh with 18 points each. Haslett connected on five field goals, four from three-point range, and was three of four at the line while Seabaugh hit seven field goals, three from beyond the arc and one of one free throw.
