In the opening game, Decatur MacArthur was an 88-65 winner over Mattoon.

The second contest went to Troy Triad with a 66-39 victory against Robinson.

Effingham then fell to Alton, 69-37 in the third game.

Alton edged out to a 20-13 opening quarter lead as Semaj Stampley went on an 11-point run, hitting three from beyond the arc and a regular basket.

The Hearts kept close with a three-pointer by KJ Kellams and four points by Nolan Fearday.

The Redbirds kept on a roll with a 20-11 second period to lead 40-24 at halftime.

Effingham was led by Fearday with eight points on three of four from the field and two of four at the line. Kellams added seven.

"Turnovers killed us," said EHS Coach Obie Farmer. "We won the rebounding battle by quite a large margin but gave the ball away too many times."

In the final game of the shootout, Teutopolis edged Normal University-High, 48-43.

The Wooden Shoes took the early lead, 10-5. But Normal U-High came back with a 21-19 second quarter to trail 29-26 at halftime.

T-town had a 10-9 third period and finished out with a 9-8 final quarter.

Garrett Gaddis led the Wooden Shoes with 17 points on six field goals, one a three-pointer and two of four at the line. Alex Kremer added nine points.
