North Clay Wins, Cumberland Falls In Girls Basketball

LAWRENCEVILLE -- North Clay (Louisville) handed Lawrencevile a 56-40 loss in girls high school basketball Wednesday evening.

The Cardinals are now 12-17 on the season and will be back in action in the first round of regional play Saturday against Ramsey.

 

At Toledo

Cumberland fell to visiting Sullivan by a 52-48 count in overtime in Wednesday evening competition.

Sullivan edged out to a 12-11 opening quarter lead. Katelyn Shoemaker kept Cumberland close with five points on a three-pointer and regular basket.

The lead went to 25-21 at halftime for Sullivan. Jade Carr knocked in two three-pointers for Cumberland.

The Pirates came back with a 15-8 third quarter to pull within 33-31 going into the final period. Paige Dittamore and Carr scored four points each while K. Shoemaker put in a three-pointer

But Sullivan ended up with a 13-2 final quarter run to knot the score at 46-46, sending the contest into an overtime period.

Sullivan then continued on with a 6-2 run for the four-point winning margin.

Sullivan had one player in double figures as A. Minor scored 11 points. Five other players scored six points each while three other players also contributed.

Cumberland was led by K. Shoemaker and Carr with 15 points each. K. Shoemaker hit six field goals that included three trifectas while Carr hit four field goals, all from three-point range and three of four at the line.
