Maroons Hand Webber Township Girls Loss, South Central Wins

DIETERICH -- Dieterich High School went on a 20-6 opening quarter run and tallied a 53-25 victory over Webber Township (Bluford) in girls basketball action Tuesday evening.

The Movin' Maroons were led by Brittney Niemerg with seven points in that opening quarter surge while Miley Britton chipped in with five and three other players scored a basket each.

The lead went to 34-11 at halftime as Britton added on six more points and Kady Tegeler hit a three-pointer and a regular basket for five.

Britton added on six more points in the third quarter while Addison Miller hit a three-pointer and finished with five in the period.

Britton connected on seven field goals and was five of six at the line for 19 points to lead the Maroons. Miller tallied 11 and Niemerg finished with eight.

At Farina

South Central handed Centralia Christ Our Rock Lutheran a 62-32 loss in Tuesday evening action.

The Cougars ran out to a 12-4 opening quarter lead as Percilla Reid, Taegan Webster and Lauren Johnson all scored four points each.

In the second quarter, Webster tallied eight points and Kaitlyn Swift connected on two three-pointers as the Cougars pushed into a 28-18 halftime lead.

Webster went on a roll in the third quarter, scoring 12 of her team's 17 points as the Cougars led 45-26.

Webster finished with a big game total of 35 poitns on 16 field goals, one a three-pointer, and two of four at the line. Also in double figures was Kaitlyn Swift with 11.
