T-town Wins At Sectional, Altamont Lutheran Falls At State

PARIS -- Teutopolis captured the championship of the Class 8-3A Paris Boys Basketball Sectional Monday evening and will be headed to the State Tornament.

The Wooden Shoes ran out to a 15-6 opening quarter lead and pushed that to 32-10 at halftime. The Shoes continued on with a 16-9 third quarter.

T-town's Jake Probst scored 20 points to lead the way while Dylan Horn chipped in with 10.

The Shoes improved to 25-1 on the season and will take on East St. Louis Lincoln at 1 p.m. Saturday at Tolono Unity High School. Lincoln has a 21-5 record.

Other teams in the field include Quincy St. Peter (17-3), Downs Tri-Valley (23-3), Rockford Kennedy (13-2), Calumet City Schrum (20-5), Manteno (21-5) and Metamora (25-1).

If the Shoes win their opener, they will play at 6:30 p.m. in the second round Saturday. The third place and championship games are scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 15.

Class S State Tournament

Altamont Lutheran saw its stay at the Class S State Tournament at Rend Lake College come to an end Monday evening..

Lutheran fell to St. Mary's Catholic, 50-45.

In other games, Central City won over Tamaroa-St. Bruno 64-25 while Our Lady downed Bartelso 44-25 and St. Peter and Paul edged Bluford-Farmington, 52-51.

Central City will meet St. Mary's Catholic at 6 p.m. Thursday while Our Lady will take on St. Peter and Paul at 7:15 p.m. The winners advance to the championship game Saturday at 4 p.m. while the losers will play for third place at 2:30.
