N. Clay Wins St. Elmo F/S Boys Tournament, EHS Advances To Title Contest At Hillsboro Freshman Tourney

ST. ELMO -- North Clay (Louisville) won the championship of the  St. Elmo/Brownstown Freshman-Sophomore Boys Basketball Tournament Monday evening.

 

The Cardinals edged Dieterich, 58-53 for the championship.

In the third place game, South Central won over St. Elmo/Brownstown, 50-38.

The fifth place contest went to Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City over Okaw Valley, 70-36.

Named to the All-Tournament Team were Mason Byers (North Clay), Lucas Griffy (North Clay), Brock Niemerg (Dieterich), Hudson Moore (South Central), Dodge Willms (St. Elmo/Brownstown) and Clive Schlanser (Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City).

 

At Hillsboro

Effingham advanced in the Hillsboro Freshman Boys Basketball Tournament Monday evening.

The Hearts won over Auburn, no score was reported. Effingham advanced to the championship game which will be played Thursday at 8 p.m.

EHS will face either Taylorville or Marquette.Those two teams play Wednesday at 7:15 p.m.

In the other Monday contest, Pana downed Vandalia to advance to the consolation bracket at 5:30 Thursday against either Greenville or Hillsboro.  Those two teams play Wednesday at 6 p.m.
