T-town Wins Neoga F/S Boys Tourney, Finals Set For SEB F/S Meet, EHS Wins At Hillsboro

NEOGA -- Teutopolis won the championship of the Neoga Freshman/Sophomore Boys Basketball Tournament during the weekend.

In Friday games, Cumberland downed Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg 62-41 while Altamont was a 53-45 winner over Neoga.

In Saturday games, Teutopolis edged Cumberland, 42-39 while St. Anthony won over Altamont, 50-43. 

That set up the finals. Teutopolis claimed the championship over Effingham St. Anthony, 52-29.

Altamont edged Cumberland, 41-40 for third place.

The consolation championship went to Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg over Neoga, 49-37.

 

At St. Elmo

Six games were contested in the  St. Elmo Freshman/Sophomore Boys Basketball Tournament Saturday.

North Clay (Louisville) won over South Central, 65-50 while St. Elmo/Brownstown downed Okaw Valley, 63-49. South Central then defeated Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City, 59-47 and Dieterich was a winner over Okaw Valley, 65-47. North Clay beat Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City 55-40 and Dietrich finished out the day by edging St. Elmo/Brownstown 53-50.

Today's schedule includes the championship game featuring Dieterich against North Clay at 8 p.m. St. Elmo/Brownstown and South Central square off for third place at 6:30. Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City will meet Okaw Valley for fifth place at 5:15.

 

At Hillsboro

Effingham advanced in the Hillsboro Freshman Tournament Saturday.

The Hearts won over Vandalia

Auburn defeated Pana, Taylorville won over Greenville and Marquette downed Hillsboro, no scores were repoted.

Effingham will face Auburn today at 7:15 p.m.
