At Effingham
Effingham Sacred Heart, Newton St. Thomas and Neoga picked up opening round victories in the Class 8-1A Sacred Heart Regional.
The Shamrocks, seeded fourth, defeated Sigel St. Michael, 45-18.
Newton St. Thomas, seeded second, won over Neoga, 49-19.
Neoga, seeded third, downed Windsor, 40-31.
Sacred Heart now faces Mattoon St. John's at 6 p.m. Tuesday followed by St. Thomas taking on Neoga at 7:15.
The winners advance to the championship Wednesday at 6 p.m.
At Casey
North Clay (Louisville) had a slight upset over Casey-Westfield.
North Clay, seeded fifth, edged fourth-seeded C-W, 37-35.
Paris Crestwood took on Hutsonville and Red Hill (Bridgeport) and Arcola played but no scores were reported.
North Clay advances to face top-seeded Dieterich at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
At St. Elmo
South Central handed Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City a 50-35 loss in the opener at the Class 8-2A St. Elmo/Brownstown Regional Saturday.
South Central edged out to an 11-10 opening quarter lead then pushed that to 32-18 at halftime with a 21-8 run.
Cartright led the winners with 16 points while Gillespie added 12.
CHBC was led by Vaughn with 10.
Effingham St. Anthony trounced Altamont 73-18. No statistics were reported.
The final game saw Stewardson-Strasburg win over St. Elmo/Brownstown, 47-23.
South Central, seeded fourth, advances to meet top-seeded Assumption Central A&M at 6 p.m. Wednesday followed by St. Anthony taking on Stewardson-Strasburg at 7:15 p.m.
The winners advnce to the title contest Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
At St. Elmo

At Teutopolis
Jasper County moved ahead with a victory in the Class 8-3A Teutopolis Regional Saturday.
Jasper County pounded Marshall, 52-20. The score was tied at 10-10 in the opening quarter and Jasper County moved ahead 22-12 at halftime. Jasper County then had a 30-8 second half.
Chance Mulvey scored 13 and Eli Wolf 12 for the winners. Wolf was the top defender and Mack Huber the top rebounder.
Jasper County improved to 18-4 and will face Shelbyville Moulton, a 29-18 winner over Cumberland Tuesday at 7:15.
Top-seeded Teutopolis will meet fourth seeded Lawrenceville Parkview at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

At Effingham
Effingham easily handled Mattoon in its own Class 8-4A Regional Saturday.
The Mustangs, seeded second, raced out to a 19-3 opening quarter lead and never looked back in a 54-29 victory.
Carson Fox led the Mustangs with 19 points on six field goals and seven of nine at the free throw line. Jenner Pals chipped in with 12.
In the opening game, Mount Zion defeated Stephen Decatur 44-30.
Mount Zion, seeded fourth, meets top-seeded Rochester at 6 p.m. Effingham will then meet third-seeded Taylorville at 7:15 today.
The winners advance to the championship game Wednesday at 6 p.m.
