T-town Girls Beat Altamont, Dieterich, CHBC Win

TEUTOPOLIS -- Teutopolis High School's offense went wild in the opening quarter as the Wooden Shoes ran out to a 26-6 lead on state-ranked Altamont. The Indians never recovered and fell to the Shoes, 65-36 in girls basketball competition Tuesday evening.

Coach Laurie Thompson's crew held a 39-16 halftime lead and a 50-23 third period tally.

Mollie Ruholl went on a run, nailing two three-pointers, a regular basket and one of two at the line for nine points while Kelsey Niemerg contributed two baskets and was four of four at the line for eight. Chloe Probst chipped in with a three-pointer and two of two at the line for five.

Isabelle Zerrusen tallied four points in the second period and C. Probst put in another three-pointer.

Peyton Osteen hit a three-pointer in the opening quarter for Altamont while Brianna Grunloh put one down in the second period.

The Shoes held leading scorer Grace Nelson to five first half points.

But Nelson got free in the third quarter, scoring all of her team's seven points. Meanwhile T-town's M. Ruholl and A. Probst nailed two more three-pointers.

Three players hit double digits for the Shoes. M. Ruholl led the way with six field goals, three of those from beyond the arc, and one of two at the line for 16. C. Probst chipped in with 15 and Niemerg added 12. The Shoes finished with eight three-pointers.

Isabelle Zerrusen, C. Probst and M. Ruholl pulled down five rebounds each. Summer Wall had two steals and five assists while A. Probst had four assists.

Altamont was led by Nelson who scored 12 of her 17 points in the second half on six field goals, one a three-pointer, and four of seven at the line. P. Osteen tallied 11.

Teutopolis also claimed the junior varsity win, 49-17.

At Sandoval

Dieterich had a big scoring third quarter and tallied a 60-27 non-conference victory over Sandoval Tuesday evening.

The Movin' Maroons edged out to an 11-7 opening quarter lead behind the seven points from Miley Britton. 

Dieterich then had a slight 14-12 second period to lead 25-19 at halftime. Kady Tegeler, who didn't score in the opening quarter, broke loose with two baskets and two of four at the line for six points.

Then it was a 23-6 third quarter rush. Britton continued on with her scoring, hitting two regular baskets, two three-pointers and two of two at the line for 12 points. Addison Miller added a three-pointer. Dieterich held a 48-25 lead going into the final period.

Britton finished with 25 points on nine field goals, four of those three-pointers, and three of four at the line. Also in double figures was Tegeler with 10. while Miller added nine and Estella Meinhart eight.

At Cowden

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City picked up a 59-49 victory over Neoga as two National Trail Conference teams met Tuesday evening.

Neoga stepped out to an 18-15 opening quarter lead as Brynn Richards hit four baskets, one from three-point range, and was four of four at the line for 13 points. Allison Sampson added a three-pointer.

The Indians were still in control with a 14-11 second period to lead 32-26 at halftime. Atalie Osborn scored four of the six points.

Macee Rodman had eight points for the Bobcats at halftime.

Rodman then broke away from Neoga to tally 10 of her team's 16 points in the third period on three baskets and four of five at the line. The Bobcats moved ahead 42-38 going into the final period.

From there, CHBC connected on 15 of 20 free throws in the quarter for a 17-11 run and the victory.

Rodman finished with 23 points on six field goals and nine of 13 at the line. Ruby Stuckemeyer also ended in double figures with 14 points. CHBC improved to 13-10.

Neoga was led by Richards with 15 on four field goals, one a three-pointer, and six of six at the line and Osborn with 12. The Indians fell to 15-10 on the season and will play host to Robinson Saturday.

In the junior varsity contest, CHBC was a 46-25 winner. Haley Doty scored 14 while Averie Vaughn added 13 for the winners who improved to 11-3.

Neoga was led by Malory Henderson with 13.
