Cumberland Wins At LPC Girls Tourney; Vandalia, Highland, LIC Tournament Scores

DECATUR -- Cumberland High School picked up another victory at the Little Prairie Conference Girls Basketball Tournament Thursday evening.

The Pirates trounced Okaw Valley by a 60-27 tally. The Pirates whipped out to a 23-4 opening quarter lead and led 41-12 halftime lead.

Alysa Dittamore led the Pirates with 11 points in the opening quarter while three other players scored four each. Dittamore continued on with eight in the second period for 19 by halftime. Suzy Fritts added five in the second period while Paige Dittamore nailed a three-pointer.

A. Dittamore finished with 25 points on 11 field goals and three free throws. Also in double figures was Katelyn Shoemaker with 14 points on five field goals and three free throws.

In other tournament games held at two locations in Decatur, Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond downed Unity Christian 56-33, Sullivan won over Cerro Gordo/Bement 46-13 and Arcola downed Tri-County 45-40.

Cumberland moved into the fifth place contest against Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond at 4 p.m. Saturday.

The championship will feature Sulilvan against Arcola at 7 p.m. Third place is Cerro Gordo/Bement against Tri-County at 5:30. The consolation championship will be Argenta-Oreana against Blue Ridge at 2:30.

At Lawrenceville

Robinson claimed the championship of the Little Illini Conference Tournament Thursday evening.

The Maroons edged Mount Carmel, 50-49.

In the third place contest, Paris was a winner over Richland County, 45-17.

 

At Vandalia

The finals are now set for the Vandalia Tournament after two games were contested Thursday evening.

Mascoutah was a 55-28 winner over Salem junior varsity in the first game.

In the second contest, Wesclin downed host Vandalia 50-30.

Saturday's finals include Effingham against Greenville for the championship at 2:30 p.m.

In the third place contest Salem faces Centralia at 1 p.m.. The fifth place game features Mascoutah and Wesclin at 11:30 a.m. and the seventh place game is Salem junior varsity and Vandalia at 10 a.m.

 

At Highland

In Thursday evening action at the 37th Annual Highland Tournament, O'Fallon downed Okawville 57-47, Highland went overtime to beat Taylorville 56-51 and Breese Central downed Breese Mater Dei 47-35.

Saturday's finals include Teutopolis against Bethalto Civic Memorial at 10 a.m. for the conoslation championship, O'Fallon facing Highland at 11:30 a.m. for fifth place, Alton against Breese Central for the championship at 2:30 p.m. and Nashville taking on Breese Mater Dei at 1 p.m. for third place,
