East St. Louis easily handled Carbondale by an 82-51 count.
In the second contest, Mount Vernon edged Charleston, 43-41.
Tonight's games include Centralia against Salem at 6 p.m. followed by East St. Louis taking on Mount Vernon at 7:30.
Effingham will be meeting Champaign Central at 11 a.m. Saturday while Carbondale faces Charleston at 12:30 pm..
The rest of Saturday's schedule will be set after Friday evening and Saturday mornings' play.
If the Hearts lose the 11 a.m. contest, they will play for seventh place at 3 p.m., If the Hearts win, they will play for the consolation championship at 4:30 p.m.
