South Central Hands Neoga Boys Basketball Loss

NEOGA -- South Central took the opening quarter lead and went on for a 38-28 victory over South Central as two National Trail Conference boys basketball teams clashed Wednesday evening.

The Cougars held an 8-7 first period lead as Callaway Smith nailed a three-pointer and Kage Hiestand put in an old-fashioned three-point play with a regular basket and a free throw.

South Central's Max Magnus knocked in two three-pointers the second quarter but Landon Titus and Luke Keller had a three-pointer each and Ray Gavin four points as Neoga pulled within 19-17 at hafftime.

The Cougars had a slight 5-2 third period edge to lead 24-19 and then went on a 14-9 final quarter run.

Magnus was the lone player in double figures for South Central with 12 on three, three-poinyers and three of four at the line.

Neoga was led by Keller with three trifectas and one of two at the line for 10.

Neoga won the junior varsity contest while South Central claimed the freshman/sophomore victory.
