Neoga, CHBC Win At NTC Girls Tourney

BEECHER CITY -- Neoga and Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City picked up consolation bracket victories in the National Trail Conference Girls Basketball Tournament Wednesday evening.

Neoga opened the evening with a 69-39 win over South Central.

The Indians edged out to a 14-12 opening quarter lead then opened the game up with a 22-12 second period to lead 36-24 at halftime.

Neoga then had a 21-3 third quarter to sock the game into the victory category.

Three players finished in double figures for Neoga. Brynn Richards led the way with 25 points on nine field goals, one a three-pointer, and six of six at the line.

Also in double digits were Haylee Campbell with 17 and Gracie Eaton with 10.

South Central was led by Brooke Cowger and Percilla Reid with 13 points each. Cowger hit six field goals and was one of one at the line while Reid connected on five field goals, three of those trifectas.

In the second game, Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City was a 60-39 winner over Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg.

CHBC took a 14-9 opening quarter lead and led 29-17 at halftime. CHBC then had a 16-11 third period.

Macee Rodman led the way for the Bobcats with 19 points on seven field goals, one a three-pointer, and four of seven at the line. Haley Doty and Ruby Stuckemeyer added 10 points each.

Windsor/Stew-Stras was led by Ella Kinkelaar with 14 points on five field goals, one a three-pointer and three of four at the line.

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City will now face Neoga at 4 p.m. Saturday for the consolation championship.

South Central and Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg meet at 2:30 for seventh place.

The tournament continues tonight as Altamont takes on Dieterich at 6 p.m. and Brownstown/St. Elmo and St. Anthony square off at 7:30 for the right to advance to the championship game.
