NEOGA --Three players hit double figures for Effingham St. Anthony as the Bulldogs claimed a 67-36 victory over National Trail Conference opponent Neoga Tuesday evening in boys high school basketball.

Brock Fearday led the way with 22 points on nine field goals, three of those fthree-pointers, and one of one at the line. Ryan Schmidt added 16 and Collin Westendorf chipped in with 13.

B. Fearday got the Bulldogs out in front by a 22-10 count in the opening quarter. He connected on two three-pointers and a regular basket for eight. Max Koenig hit all four of his free throw attempts and Schmidt scored five.

The lead went to 42-25 at halftime. B .Fearday added nine more for 17 points by halftime. Schmidt added five and Westendorf six.

Neoga's Trey Sheehan scored eight points in the second quarter in an attempt to keep the Indians close.

St. Anthony then had a 25-11 second half.

Neoga was led by one player in double figures, Sheehan with 10 on four field goals, one a three-pointer, and one of two at the line.

In junior varsity play, St. Anthony won 51-19. Aidan Lauritzen led the way with 13 points for the Bulldogs.

Neoga was led by Coy with six points.

At Newton

Newton High School's Caden Nichols went over 1,000 points for his career as he led Newton to a 66-52 victory over Effingham Tuesday evening.

The Eagles stepped out to a 16-4 opening quarter lead and led 34-16 at halftime. Effingham came back with a 16-11 thid quarter top pull within 45-32 going into the final quarter but Newton had a 21-20 edge.

Nichols finished with 11 field goals, three from trifecta land, and was two of four at the line for 27 points. Also in double figures for the Eagles were Dylan Gier with 17 and Max Meinhart with 11. The Eagles hit 14 of 19 free throws and had six three-pointers.

Newton improved to 13-5 on the season and is back in action Friday against Lawrenceville.

Effingham was led by three players in double digits. KJ Kellams led the way with 12 points on four field goals, two of those three-pointers, and two of two at the line. Hayden Wendling added 11 points while Nolan Fearday chipped in with 10.

The Hearts were a perfect 12 of 12 at the free throw line.

Effingham is back in competition Thursday at Taylorville in a game that can be heard on KJ Country 102.3.

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis played host to St. Joseph-Ogden and came out with a 53-40 victory Tuesday evening.

St. Joseph-Ogden edged ahead 10-9 in the opening quarter but the Wooden Shoes came back to lead 24-18 at halftime.

T-town had a 29-22 second half.

Joey Niebrugge had a big game on the evening. He scored 18 points on eight field goals and two of three at the free throw line. He also pulled down eight rebounds, had two steals and four assists. Garrett Gaddis added 12 points.

Mitch Koester tallied four assists.

The Wooden Shoes also nabbed the junior varsity contest, 47-44. Jake Bushue led the way with a double-double as he scored 21 points and pulled down 14 rebounds. Gavin Addis led in assists with four.

At Farina

South Central edged Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg as two National Trail Conference teams clashed Tuesday evening.

The Cougars held an 11-3 opening quarter lead as Seth Bergmann scored five points. But Windsor/Stew-Stras came back with a 16-6 second quarter run to pull ahead 19-17 at halftime.

Jackson Gurgel went on a scoring binge with two three-pointers and two of two at the line for eight in the quarter. Connor Manhart nailed two three-pointers.

Windsor/Stew-Stras had a 13-9 third quarter to lead 32-26 going into the final period. Gurgel added seven points and Manhart hit two more three-pointers.

But the Cougars got untracked and went on a 15-3 final period run to win by six. Max Magnus scored seven points and Westin Neilson and Callaway Smith added a three-pointer each.

Jacob Smith led the way with 13 points on six field goals, one a three-pointer, and Magnus finished with nine. South Central improved to 10-8 overall and is 1-1 in the NTC.

Windsor/Stew-Stras was led by Gurgel with 18 points on six field goals, four three-pointers and two of two at the line. Manhart added 15 points on five three-pointers. The Hatchets dropped to 8-11 on the season and 1-3 in the NTC.

South Central won the junior varsity and freshman/sophomore games.

At Altamont

Altamont captured a non-conference victory over Moweaqua Central A&M in Tuesday evening action.

The Indians ran out to a 20-4 opening quarter lead behind five points from Kaden Davis and four each from Kade Millelville and Aden McManaway. Eli Miller knocked in a three-pointer.

E. Miller then scored all 10 of the Indians points in the second period and led 30-20 at halftime.

Atlamont continued to roll with a 19-7 third quarter as Milleville hit two three-pointers and a regular basket for eight and Davis added five more.

The Indians finished out with a 14-8 final period.

K. Miller led the way for Altamont with 16 points on six field goals and four of 10 at the line. E. Miller added 15, Davis 13 and Milleville 12.

Altamont is now 10-4 on the season and returns to action Thursday against Hillsboro.

Centra A&M won the junior varsity game, 54-29.

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City tallied a 60-51 victory over Martinsville in Tuesday action.

The Bobcats ran out to a 22-8 opening quarter lead. Kaidyn Calame led the way for the Bobcats with seven points while AJ Radloff chipped in with five.

The Bluestreaks came back with a 16-10 second quarter but still trailed CHBC by eight points at halftime.

Both teams scored 15 in the third period before CHBC had a 13-12 final quarter for the victory.

Four players hit double figures for the winners. Radloff finished with 15 points on four field goals, two of those three-pointers, and five of eight at the line. Clayton Wojcik added 14 points on five field goals and four of five at the line. Kaidyn Calame finished with 11 and Gage  Lorton chipped in with 10.

North Clay dorpped to 5-9 on the season and is back in action Friday against Altamont.
