DECATUR -- Effingham St. Anthony pounded Decatur St. Teresa Saturday in high school boys basketball competition.

It was the Bulldogs against the Bulldogs as St. Anthony put on an offensive display to beat St. Teresa, 66-26.

St. Anthony ran out to an 18-6 opening quarter lead behind Ryan Schmidt's six points. The lead went to 41-18 at halftime. Brock Fearday put in seven points and Schmidt added five more.

St. Anthony had a 21-8 third quarter. B. Fearday tallied seven more points and finished with 18 to lead the way. Fearday connected on eight field goals, two from three-point range.

Also in double figures was Schmidt with 14, all but three of those points scored in the first half.

St. Anthony was a 39-13 winner in the junior varsity matchup.

The winners had 10 players score in the contest led by Miles Waldhoff with nine points.

At Robinson

Effingham traveled to Robinson and fell to the homestanding team by a 57-40 count.

The Maroons moved ahead 18-5 in the opening quarter on the Hearts and led 29-15 at halftime.

Effingham came back in the second half to almost play Robinson even but the damage had been done.

Hayden Wendling led the way for the Hearts in scoring with nine points on one three-pointer and six of eight at the line. KJ Kellams added eight points.

At Altamont

 Altamont had four players hit double figures in a 60-39 non-conference victory over Woodlawn Saturday.

Kaden Davis got the Indians off in the right direction, scoring seven points in the opening quarter 17-6 run. Altamont led 29-13 at halftime.

Altamont had a 16-12 third quarter behind Eli Miller's six points and Kaidyn Miller had five points in the fourth quarter.

Davis finished with 16 points on six field goals, four from three-point range. K Miller added 14 while Kade Milleville finished with 11 and Eli Miller 10.

St. Elmo/Brownstown hit the 80 point mark in an 80-62 win over Grayville Saturday.

SEB moved into a 38-25 halftime lead then had a 42-37 second half run.

Adam Atwood hit 10 of 15 field goals, three of four from three-point range and six of seven at the line for 29 points. Also in double figures were Collin Maxey with 16, Cade Schaub with 16 and Brody Mason with 12.

SEB hit 54 percent from the field and 53 percent from three-point range. The Eagles were 89 percent from the free throw line with 21 of 31.

St. Elmo/Brownstown is now 13-3 on the season and is back in action Wednesday against Edinburg/South Fork.

Newton traveled to Marion and came home with a 68-59 loss at the hands of the homestanders Saturday.

Marion stepped out to a 19-10 opeing quarter lead and led 31-20 at halftime.

Caden Nichols had an outstanding game for the Eagles with 32 points on 12 field goals, five from three-point range, and three of three at the line.

Also in double figures was Max Meinhart with 12 points.

Newton is now 12-6 on the season.
