The Indians held a 17-4 lead behind Grace Nelson's eight points and five from Brianna Grunloh. The lead went to 42-20 at halftime.
Nelson went on a five basket run that included a three-pointer for 11 points. Grunloh and Claire Boehm knocked in a three-pointer each.
Addison Conant and Brooke Cowger had four points each for the Cougars.
Altamont kept the pressure on with a 21-11 third quarter. Nelson added 11 more points while Kaylee Lurkins chipped in two baskets and three free throws for seven.
Nelson finished with 30 points to lead the Indians behind 13 of 14 from the field and two of three at the line. Lurkins tallied 14 points.
Peyton Osteen led the team in assists with six. Skylie Klein pulled down four rebounds.
The Indians hit 57.7 percent from the field and 61.5 percent at the line.
Altamont is now 6-0 in the conference, 15-2 overall.
South Central was led by Kaitlyn Swift with nine points on three field goals and two of two at the line. The Cougars dropped to 1-4 in the conference, 9-8 overall.

At Effingham
Effingham St. Anthony didn't let any grass grow under their collective feet. They started the second half of the season with a 93-34 non-conference victory over Shelbyville Thursday evening.
The big news of the evening was Stacie Vonderheide scoring 52 points, breaking the school record for most points scored in a single game. She broke Riley Guy's previous record of 43 points.
Vonderheide connected on 22 field goals, one a three-pointer, and was a perfect seven of seven at the line. She hit 21 of 29 from the field. Vonderheide also pulled down 16 rebounds, 11 from the offensive side of the court, nine steals and had three assists.
Not to be overshadowed was Nancy Ruholl's 22 points on seven field goals, one from three-point range, and seven of eight at the line. Ruholl pulled down 13 rebounds, had three assists and five steals.
"We shot 89 percent from the free throw line," said St. Anthony Coach Aaron Rios. "We had only nine turnovers and forced Shelbyville into 33 turnovers. We finished with 45 team rebounds and 27 steals."

Eight Teutopolis High School players scored in a 56-32 victory over Mattoon Thursday evening.
The Wooden Shoes trailed Mattoon 12-10 after the opening quarter. But T-town's Chloe Probst went on a run, scoring eight points on three baskets and two of two at the line in the second quarter as the Shoes moved ahead 25-14. T-town then had a 21-18 second half.
C. Probst led the way with 14 points on five field goals, one a three-pointer, and was three of seven at the line. Kelsey Niemerg chipped in with 12 points.
Isabelle Zerrusen and C. Probst led in rebounds with seven each. Kelsey Niemerg and Malea Helmink had two steals each.

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg trailed Okaw Valley after the opening quarter but got on track in the second period and went on for a 44-20 non-conference victory Thursday evening.
The Hatchets had a 12-6 second period run and held Okaw Valley to only one third quarter point while pushing the lead to 33-16. Samantha Hayes went on an eight point run with three baskets and two free throws.
Hayes finished with eight field goals and was four of six at the line for a total of 20 points.
Also in double figures was Ella Kinkelaar with 10 points.
WSS finished out with an 11-4 final period run as Ellie Wittenberg hit a basket and three of four at the line.

Ramsey swept out to a 27-16 opening quarter lead on Dieterich but the Maroons came right back in the second quarter to move into a 34-31 halftime lead.
The Maroons then had a 32-10 second half to put the game away, 66-41.
Four players finished in double figures for the Maroons. Miley Britton connected on eight field goals, three of those three-pointers, and was four of six at the line for 23 points. Addison Miller added 14, Ruby Westendorf 11 and Kady Tegeler 10.
Dieterich also nabbed the junior varsity contest, 26-23. Miller led the way with 13 points.

Brownstown/St. Elmo's Presley Wililams got her team off in the right direction, scoring eight points in that opening quarter 15-8 run.
BSE went on for a 22-8 second period and downed Mount Olive in a non-conference matchup by a 58-20 count Thursday evening.
Lexie Seabaugh scored eight in the second period run and tacked on six more in the third quarter. She finished as the leading scorer with 19 points on nine field goals, one from three-point range.
Also in double figures was Dayanna Haslett with 14 points.
BSE also captured the junior varsity game, 19-9. Madi Miller was the leading scorer with six points.

Newton High School improved to 11-8 on the season with a 65-42 Little Illini Conference win over Lawrenceville Thursday evening.
The Eagles edged out to a 15-14 opening quarter lead then had a 17-7 second period and went on for the 23-point spread.
Two players were in double figures for the Eagles. Lilly Kessler led the way with 20 points on eight field goals and four of five at the line. Camryn Martin chipped in with 18 points on six field goals and six of seven at the line. Elley Bennett was just off double figures with nine points.
C. Martin and Kessler led in rebounds with six each. C. Martin had seven steals and six assists.
Newton improved to 2-1 in the conference and will be back in conference action Monday, hosting Mount Carmel.
Newton also nabbed the junior varsity contest, 39-5. Claire Probst and Grace Schumacher led the way with eight points each. The Eagles are 3-0 in the conference, 10-2 overall.

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City suffered a tough non-conference loss Thursday evening by a 43-42 count in overtime to Arthur Christian.
CHBC edged out to an 8-3 opening quarter lead and led 16-9 at halftime and 28-13 going into the final quarter.
But Arthur Christian came roaring back with a 21-6 final quarter to tie the score at 34-34, sending the contest into overtime. In the overtime period, Arthur Christian hit two baskets and five free throws to pull out the victory. The winners finished with eight three-pointers in the contest.
CHBC was led by Macee Rodman with 29 points on 11 field goals, one from three-point range, and six of eight at the line.
The Bobcats dropped to 8-9 overall on the season and return to action hosting North Clay at 6 p.m. Monday.
CHBC was the winner in the junior varsity contest, 48-7. Lena Bowlin and Ines Saez-Ferrer led with 10 points each. The JV squad improved to 9-3.

Cumberland suffered a 68-41 loss at the hands of Robinson in Thursday evening competition.
The Maroons stepped out to a 22-10 opening quarter lead and led 41-27 at halftime. Robinson then had a 19-5 third quarter run.
Katelyn Jones led the Maroons with 19 points while Marisa Zane added 17 and Elizabeth Shea 14.
The Pirates were led by Katelyn Shoemaker with 13 on five field goals, two of those from three-point range. Jade Carr chipped in with nine points.

Neoga drops to 11-6 on the season and returns to action Saturday at Casey-Westfield.
