Hearts, Bobcats, Indians, Cougars Nab Girls Victories

The Hearts held a 12-6 opening quarter lead as Averie Wolfe and Bella Austin connected on a three-pointer each. EHS then went to 22-9 at halftime. Olivia Moser put in two baskets for four points.
The Hearts had a 24-17 second half for the winning margin.
Wolfe finished with 14 points to lead EHS. She hit five field goals, four of those from three-point range. Moser was also in double figures with 10.
EHS iw now 15-3 on the season.
Newton was led by Lilly Kessler with eight points. The Eagles fall to 10-8 on the season.
Effingham edged Newton 38-36 in overtime to win the junior varsity contest.

At Cowden
Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City trailed Dieterich 38-34 going into the final quarter and came back with an 18-12 run to pull out a 52-50 victory Tuesday evening.
The Maroons edged out to a 12-11 opening quarter lead as Miley Britton scored five points, Kady Tegeler four and Ruby Westendorf hit a three-pointer
CHBC came roaring back with a 20-14 second period run to pull ahead 31-26 at halftime. Macee Rodman went on a run, putting in two three-pointers and two regular baskets for 10 points and Marissa Summers hit a basket and two free throws.
But, once again, Dieterich took charge with a 12-3 third quarter. Britton scored five, Westendorf four and Addison Miller a three-pointer.
The lead was short-lived, however, at the Bobcats went on an 18-12 final quarter run. Rodman hit two three-pointers and was three of four at the line for half of her team's final quarter points.
Rodman finished with 25 as the lone player for CHBC in double figures. She hit nine field goals, four from three-point range, and was three of four at the line. Stuckemeyer chipped in with nine.
Dieterich was led by Britton with seven field goals, two of those three-pointers, and three of four at the line for 19.
CHBC improved to 8-8 on the season.
CHBC also claimed the junior varsity contest, 39-24. Ines Saez-Ferrer led the way with 14 points.

At Oblong
Altamont took the early lead and never looked back in a 76-49 non-conference win over Oblong/Hutsonville/Palestine Tuesday.
The Indians ran out to an 18-9 opening quarter lead behind Kaylee Lurkins two baskets and four free throws for seven points and Grace Nelson's three baskets and a free throw, also for seven points.
The lead went to 34-16 at halftime. Peyton Osteen and Nelson added six points each in that quarter.
Four players hit double digits for Altamont. Nelson tallied 22 on 10 field goals and two free throws while Sklie Klein finished strong, scoring nine points in the final period and ending with 15 for the game. P. Osteen added 12 and Lurkins 11.

South Central's Laureen Johnson hit three baskets and three of three at the line for nine points while Taegan Webster connected on five baskets for 10 in the opening quarter 24-5 run against Martinsville Tuesday evening.
The Cougars went on for a 55-26 non-conference victory.
Webster finished with 22 to lead the way on 10 baskets and two of five at the free throw line. Johnson scored 11.
Martinsville was led by Jade Wilhoit with 10 points on four baskets and two of two at the line.
