Lincoln Way E. Wins Christmas Classic Title, Final Day Roundup,

Lincoln Way East beat Champaign Centennial 48-42 in the championship game, edging out to a 14-13 opening quarter lead then pushing that to 29-18 at halftime.
Centennial came back with a 16-9 third period run to pull within 38-34 going into the final quarter. Lincoln Way East then held off the challenge with a 10-8 final period.
BJ Powell led the way for the winners with 15 points and five rebounds.
Centennial was led by Jadin Schilb with 17 and Voldy Makabu with 11.
The third place game went to Lutheran North with a 69-63 victory over Dixon.
Highland outlasted Effingham St. Anthony a 56-53 loss in the fifth place contest.
Highland edged out to a 12-10 opening quarter lead then broke loose with a 17-7 second period to lead 29-17 at halftime.
Although the Bulldogs came back with a 36-27 second half, they couldn't overcome that second period run.
Highland was led by Grant Fleming with 22 and Jake Ottensmeier with 10.
St. Anthony's Brock Fearday finished with 19 on seven field goals, one a three-pointer, and four of four at the line. Also in double figures was Collin Westendorf with 16.
Teutopolis captured seventh place with a 56-46 win over Oak Lawn.
The Wooden Shoes edged out to a 12-7 opening quarter lead and pushed that to 31-16 at halftime. Oak Lawn made a run in the final quarter but fell short.
Three players finished in double figures for T-town. Alex Kremer led the way with 12 points on four field goals, two of those three-pointers, and was six of six at the line. Garrett Gaddis added 11 and Tyler Pruemer 10.
Oak Lawn was led by Donte Montgomery with 20 points.
Newton captured the consolation championship. The Eagles jumped out to a 16-6 opening quarter lead and led 28-23 at halftime. The Eagles had a 25-17 second half.
Dylan Gier led the way for Newton with 17 points on seven field goals and three of five at the line. Also in double figures were Caden Nichols with 13 and Gus Bierman with 10.
Mattoon was led by Karson Rice with nine.
Effingham fell to Belvidere 59-46 in its final game of the tournament for 15th place.
Belvidere stepped out to a 10-7 opening quarter lead and led 30-16 at halftime. The Hearts edged Belvidere in the second half, 30-19.
The winners were led by Jason Dean with 13 points and Demetrious Taborn with 11.
Effingham also had two players in double digits. Nolan Fearday led the way with 14 points on two field goals and 10 of 13 at the line. Hayden Wendling tallied 12.
Winning the 13th place contest was Seneca over Charleston, 58-51.
Named to the All-Tournament Team were Garrett Gaddis (Teutopolis), Caden Nichols (Newton), Dylan Gier (Newton), Collin Westendorf (St. Anthony), Brock Fearday (St. Anthony), Donte Montgomery (Oak Lawn), Jake Ottensmeier (Highland), Paxton Giertz (Seneca), BJ Powell (Lincoln Way East), Karson Thomas (Lincoln Way East), Darius Harrington (Dixon), Bryce Jean (Mattoon), Todd Makabu (Centennial), Jadin Schilb (Centennial), AJ Newton (Lutheran North) and Bryce Spiller (Lutheran North).
Three people were honored at the tournament. Greg Sapp received an award for his years broadcasting the tournament while Dave Woltman, athletic director at Effingham High School, was honored for his part in starting and organizing the tournament. Woltman is retiring as EHS athletic director after this school year. Also honored was Steve DeClerck was honored for his 50th year as a referee. DeClerck will be retiring after this season.
