Altamont Wins Robinson Holidaze Girls Hoopla

ROBINSON -- Altamont High School captured the championship of the Robinson Lady Maroons Holidaze Basketball Hoopla Friday.
The Indians handed host Robinson a 56-45 loss for the title.
Robinson actually took the early lead, edging out to a 12-10 first quarter opener. Altamont's Peyton Osteen scored five points, connecting on a three-pointer and a regular basket, and Grace Nelson hit a three-pointer.
Nelson then got on the scoring track in the second quarter. She broke loose for two three-pointers and five regular baskets for 16 points and Altamont rushed into a 32-21 halftime lead.
Robinson regained control in the third period but only for a 13-8 run. The Maroons trailed Altamont 40-34 going into the final quarter.
Altamont then connected on its free throws in the final period and Nelson tallied seven points. The Indians had a 16-11 run for the winning margin. Altamont hit 10 free throws in the quarter and finished with 12 of 18 at the line.
Nelson ended with 28 points on 11 field goals, three from trifecta land, and three of four at the line. Also in double figures was P. Osteen with 10.

At Centralia
North Clay (Louisville) will be playing for fifth place at the Centralia Christ Our Rock Lutheran Winterfest Tournament after winning Friday.
The Cardinals defeated Johnston City, 44-41 to advance to the fifth place game. Wesclin won over Hamilton County, 41-37 and will be North Clay's opponent.
Greenville and Father McGivney will meet for the championship at 8. Greenville defeated Pinckneyville 32-27 and Father McGivney won over Staunton 45-33. Pinckneyville and Staunton square off for third place at 6:30 p.m.
Sandoval beat East Alton 40-36 and Chester won over Centralia CORL 42-32 to advance to the consolation championship which is scheduled for 3 p.m.
