BROWNSTOWN -- Brownstown/St. Elmo went overtime before edging Neoga, 66-64 in girls high school National Trail Conference basketball competition Thursday.

Neoga took a slight 13-11 opening quarter lead as Haylee Campbell hit for six points while Atalie Osborn and Allison Sampson connected on a three-pointer each.

The Indians pushed that to 32-28 at halftime. Campbell scored eight points while Osborn and Brynn Richards added five each.

Lexi Seabaugh kept BSE in the contest with six in the second quarter.

Both teams tallied 11 points in the third period.

BSE came back with an 18-13 run to knot the score in the final quarter 56-56. Presley Williams hit a basket and four free throws for six in the quarter while Dayana Haslett added five.

In the overtime session, BSE was a winner with a 10-8 run. Maci Miller, who hadn't scored through the first three quarters and tallied four in the final period, was the leading scorer with eight of the team's 10 points. She connected on four regular baskets. Seabaugh added a basket.

Day. Haslett led four players in double figures with 16 points on six field goals and three of four at the line. Seabaugh finished with 15 while Miller added 12 and Williams 12.

Neoga was led by Campbell with 24 points on 10 field goals and four of five at the line. Brynn Richards added 19 points while Osborn finished with 11.

The Indians drop to 9-2 on the season and are back in action Monday at Newton.

In the junior varsity game, Brownstown/St. Elmo was a 36-11 winner. Danika Ramsey led the winners with 12 points.

Neoga was led by M. Knechtel with eight.

At Altamont

Altamont's Grace Nelson put together a 48 point run as her team handed Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City an 87-63 National Trail Conference loss Thursday evening.

The Indians and Bobcats played to an 18-18 opening quarter tie. Peyton Osteen led the way for Altamont with two three-pointers and two free throws for eight points. Nelson added seven.

CHBC was led by Marissa Summers with six points.

Altamont then edged ahead 41-39 at halftime. Nelson scored 11 of her team's points while Kaylee Lurkins added six.

Macee Rodman led the way for the Bobcats, connected on three trifectas for nine points. Karlee Smith added six points.

Altamont then started on a run to put the game away with a 20-11 third period. Nelson hit five regular baskets and was four of four at the line for 14 points while Libby Reardon and Brianna Grunloh added a three-pointer each.

Altamont continued its run with a 26-13 final quarter. Nelson scored 16 more points. She finished with nine baskets, one a three-pointer, and was nine of 12 at the line. Also in double figures were Lurkins with 12 and P. Osteen with 10.

The Indians are now 5-0 in the conference, 8-2 overall.

CHBC was led by Rodman with 19 on six field goals, four of those from three-point land, and three of six at the line. Smith finished with 16 points. The Bobcats drop to 7-6 overall.

Altamont also nabbed the junior varsity game, 33-29 and won the freshman/sophomore contest, 36-31. CHBC is now 6-2 in junior varsity action.

Altamont was led by Avery Aldrich in the JV game with seven. CHBC was led by Ines Saez-Ferrer with eight.

The Indians captured a freshman/sophomore game, 36-31.

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis claimed a 48-42 victory over Newton in Thursday evening play.

The two teams played to an 11-11 opening quarter tie. T-town then edged ahead 25-21 at halftime. Chloe Probst hit a three-pointer and a free throw for four points while Anna Probst added four points on two baskets.

Lilly Kessler led the Eagles with two baskets and two free throws for six points after a five-point opening quarter.

C. Probst came out hot from three-point range in the third period, connecting on three and a free throw for 10 points. Mollie Ruholl chipped in with a three-pointer and the Shoes led 40-32 going into the final period.

Newton came back with a 10-8 final period tally but it was too little, too late. Camryn Martin was the lone player, scoring in the quarter for the Eagles with two three-pointers and two regular baskets.

C. Probst was the lone T-town player in double figures with 16 on five field goals, four from three-point range, and two of four at the line. M. Ruholl and A. Probst scored eight each. Malea Helmink led in rebounds with four. Summer Wall had three steals.

Newton was led by Kessler with 15 points on six field goals and three of four at the line and Martin with 14 points on six field goals, two three-pointers. Kessler pulled down seven rebounds. Elley Bennett had four assists. and three steals.

The Eagles fall to 6-5 on the season and return to action Monday hosting Neoga.

Teutopolis won the junior varsity game, 34-12. Allie Hermann led the Eagles with five points. Newton drops to 7-1.

At Tuscola

Tuscola edged Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg by a 40-38 count Thursday evening.

The Warriors held that one-point lead after the opening quarter, 9-8. 

Windsor/Stew-Stras came back with a 14-10 second period to lead 22-19 at halftime. Katelyn VohBehrens hit two regular baskets and was four of four at the line for eight points while Ella Wittenberg knocked in a three-pointer and a free throw.

But Tuscola came back to take a 9-4 third quarter and push ahead 28-26.

The two teams then played to a 12-12 final quarter with Tuscola holding off the Hatchets for the win.

Wittenberg led the way for WSS with 11 points on three field goals, one from three-point range, and four of seven at the line.

Cerro Gordo/Bement came calling and edged Cumberland, 39-35 in action Thursday evening.

CGB took an 11-7 opening quarter lead and led 26-14 at halftime. Cumberland came back with an 11-5 third quarter to pull within 31-25.

The Pirates then outscored CGB 10-8 in the final period only to fall short.

Alysa Dittamore led Cumberland with nine points while Suzy Fritts and Jade Carr added seven each.
