St. Michael Finishes Second At 8-1A State

CLINTON -- Sigel St. Michael fell to Washington St. Patrick to finish second in the Class 8-1A Girls State Basketball Tournament at Clinton Junior High School Thursday evening.

St. Patrick edged out to a 12-10 opening quarter lead but the Sharpshooters fought back to lead 17-16 at halftime.

The two teams were tied at 22-22 after the third quarter. St. Patrick then came back with a big 16-8 final quarter run for the victory.

St. Michael was led by Kaelyn Ordner and Molly Moran with eight points each. Brooklyn Will chipped in with six.

Will finished with 29 total points for the tournament while Ordner tallied a total of 28.

Washington St. Patrick finished with a 26-0 record while St. Michael ended the season at 23-1.

In the third place contest, Carrollton St. John won over Royal Prairieview Ogden, 50-20.

St. John finished the season at 24-3 while Royal Praireview Ogden was 21-5.
