NTC Seventh-Grade Tourney Finals Set, Jr. High Boys -- Dec. 5

The National Trail Conference Seventh-Grade Boys Basketball Tournament finals are now set after Tuesday evening action.

South Central edged Effingham Sacred Heart, 24-21 in the first game of the evening.

Sigel St. Michael was a 41-31 winner over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City in the second contest.

South Central and Sigel St. Michael will meet for the championship Thursday at 8 p.m.

Sacred Heart and Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City will square off for third place at 6:45 p.m.

The consolation championship will open Thursday evening at 5:30 featuring North Clay (Louisville) and St. Elmo/Brownstown.

 

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis tallied 49 points in each game in downing Olney Tuesday evening.

The Wooden Shoes won the seventh-grade contest, 49-15. T-town ran out to a 23-7 opening quarter lead and never looked back.

Twelve players scored for the Shoes led by Kale Goeckner and Blake NIemerg with eight points each.

In eighth-grade play, T-town was a 49-16 winner. The Shoes held a 6-5 opening quarter lead then ran off with a 19-4 second period.

Jake Probst tallied 20 points for the Shoes while Payne Davidson added 11.
