St. A, T-town, Dieterich, Newton, SEB Claim Boys Basketball Victories

The Bulldogs ripped out to a 32-9 opening quarter lead on Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City in National Trail Conference boys basketball play and ended up with an 81-46 win Tuesday evening.
Ryan Schmidt went on a big run, connecting on four regular baskets, two three-pointers and was three of three at the line for 17 points. Collin Westendorf chipped in with eight points while Brock Fearday scored six.
CHBC came back with a 24-21 second quarter. Wyatt Rueff was the catalyst behind the run with nine points on three baskets and two free throws. AJ Radloff chipped in with seven points.
But the Bulldogs came out after halftime and went on an 18-8 third quarter to lead 71-41. B. Fearday took over the scoring duties with seven points.
Schmidt finished with 23 points to lead the way for St. Anthony. He connected on eight field goals, two from three-point range, and was five of seven at the line. Westendorf chipped in with 17 while B. Fearday added 16. The Bulldogs connected on eight three-pointers.
The Bulldogs hit 17 of 21 free throws.
CHBC was also led by three players in double digits. Clayton Wojcik and Kaidyn Calame led the way with 12 points each while Rueff finished out with 10. Wojcik hit four field goals, one a three-pointer, and was three of eight at the line while Calame tallied four baskets, three from trifecta land, and was one of two at the line. The Bobcats finished with six three-pointers.
St. Anthony also claimed the junior varsity contest, 88-30. Maddox Wiedman led the Bulldogs with 21 points while Aiden Lauritzen added 19.
CHBC was led by Vaughn and Pope with five each.

At Paris
Teutopolils ripped out to a 16-0 opening quarter lead on Paris and tallied a 59-25 victory Tuesday.
The Wooden Shoes held a 34-9 halftime lead.
Garrett Gaddis led the way for the Shoes with 23 points, hitting eight baskets, six of those from three-point range, and was one of one at the line. Gavin Addis chipped in with nine points and Logan Lawson added eight.
The Shoes connected on a whopping 16 three-pointers in the contest. Gaddis led the way with six while Addis tallied three and Lawson added two.
The Wooden Shoes improved to 4-2 on the season.
In junior varsity play, T-town was also a winner, scoring a 58-23 victory. Drew Hoene was the lone player for the Shoes in double digits with 16 points.

At Dieterich
Dieterich went on an opening quarter run and had a big third quarter in beating Neoga, 70-49 Tuesday.
The Movin' Maroons went on a 24-12 opening quarter lead and led 34-21 at halftime. Dieterich then had a 22-18 third quarter to lead 56-39 going into the final period.
Four players hit double digits for Dieterich. Caleb Gephart led the way with 24 points. He connected on nine field goals, three from trifecta range, and was three of four at the line. Landen Keck added 19 and also hit three trifectas while Jaxon Funneman and Lucas Westendorf scored 10 each.
Neoga was led by Trey Sheehan with 20 points on eight field goals, one a three-pointer, and three of seven at the line. Carter Young finished with 11 points.

At Newton
Newton outscored Altamont in the first and third quarters to take a 56-46 non-conference victory Tuesday evening.
The Eagles had a 15-6 opening quarter run. Altamont came back within four points at halftime with a 12-7 second period.
Newton then had a 22-11 third quarter run and went on for the victory.
Three players finished in double figures for the winners. Parker Wolf led the way with 16 points on six field goals, one a three-pointer, and three of four at the line. Kye Bergbower added 12 and Jacob Weber 10.
Newton improved to 5-1 on the season.
Altamont (3-1) was led by Dillan Elam with 18 points and Kaidyn Miller with 12. Elam connected on seven field goals, two of those three-pointers, and was two of three at the line.
Newton will be back in action Friday at North Clay (Louisville).
Altamont won the junior varsity cnotest, 43-35.

At Louisville
St. Elmo/Brownstown remained unbeaten with a 61-52 National Trail Conference win over North Clay (Louisville) Tuesday.
SEB had four players finish in double figures. Cade Schaub led the way with 16 points on five of 10 from the field and six of 10 at the line. Adam Atwood and Lowell Wihour added 12 each while Josiah Maxey chipped in with 10.
St. Elmo/Brownstown hit 54 percent from the field and were 64 percent at the free throw line with 18 of 28. The team improved to 7-0 on the season.
There were no statistics for North Clay which drops to 0-2 in the NTC, 1-4 overall.
North Clay won the junior varsity game, 46-43 and the freshman/sophomore contest, 42-29.
At Vandalia
Vandalia edged out to a 12-10 opening quarter lead and that's the margin the Vandals defeated South Central by, 40-38 Tuesday evening.
South Central came back with an 11-6 second period run to lead 21-18 at halftime. But Vandalia had a 10-8 third quarter to pull within 29-28 then went on a 12-9 final period run as T. Robbins hit two baskets and was two of three at the line and Brannon hit two free throws.
South Central had two players in double figures. Max Magnus led the way with 12 points on four field goals, two of those three-pointers and two of two at the line. Callaway Smith added 10 points.
Vandalia won the junior varsity game while South Central was a winner in the freshman/sophomore contest.
South Central (4-2) will be back in action Friday at Altamont.

Arcola took a 23-18 halftime lead and then had a 20-8 third quarter run in a 60-45 non-conference victory over Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg Tuesday.
Arcola had three players hit double figures. Braden Phillips led the way with 22 points while Miller had 18 and Thomas 13.
Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg finished with two players in double figures as Connor Manhart and Nathaniel Gracey scored 13 each. Manhart hit five field goals, that included two three-pointers, and was one of two at the line. Gracey hit five field goals, one a three-pointer, and was four of six at the line.
Windsor/Stew-Stras dropped to 2-5 on the season while Arcola evened its record at 2-2.
The Hatchets will be back in action Friday at Shelbyville.
