SIGEL -- North Clay (Louisville) edged Stewardson-Strasburg in the National Trail Conference Seventh-Grade Boys Basketball Tournament Monday evening.
North Clay was a 29-25 winner in overtime. Stew-Stras took a 7-6 opening quarter lead and led 11-9 at halftime.
North Clay came back with a 7-2 third quarter run to pull ahead 16-13. Stew-Stras rallied with a 9-6 final quarter to tie the score at 22-22 sending the game into overtime.
In the overtime period, North Clay put together a 7-3 run for the victory.
Lewis led North Clay with 16 points while Ruholl chipped in with nine.
Stew-Stras was led by Noah Vonderheide with nine and Isaac Pruemer with eight. Stew-Stras dropped to 6-8 on the season.
St. Elmo/Brownstown defeated Dieterich, 23-20 in the second game of the evening.
North Clay and St. Elmo/Brownstown will now square off for the consolation championship at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
Tonight's games feature Effingham Sacred Heart against South Central at 6 followed by Sigel St. Michael facing Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City at 7:15. The winners advance to the championship game Thursday at 8 p.m. while the losers will play for third place at 6:45 p.m.

At Effingham
Effingham St. Anthony tallied a 43-18 win over Flora in eighth-grade action Monday evening. There was no report on the seventh-grade contest.
The Bullpups held an 8-2 opening quarter lead as Conner Storm and Johnny Gannaway tallied four points each. The lead went to 20-7 at halftime. Kade Pennington knocked in a three-pointer while five other players scored.
St. Anthony had a 22-11 second half.
C. Storm was the lone player in double figures for the Bullpups with 15 points. Eight other players chipped in with points.
St. Anthony is now 9-4 on the season.
In the seventh-grade contest, the Bullpups were 37-23 winners. St. ANthony held a 24-13 halftime lead.
Blake Verdeyen scored 18 points to lead the winners.
St. Anthony is now 14-1 on the season.

Effingham's eighth-grade squad pounded Marshall 60-9 in eighth-grade competition Monday evening. There was no seventh-grade score reported.
The Mustangs ripped out to a 23-0 opening quarter lead behind the scoring of Jenner Pals with five field goals, one a three-pointer, and two free throws for 13 points.
Effingham continued with a 13-7 second period to lead 36-7 at halftime. Effingham had a 24-2 second half.
Pals finished with 21 points while Carson Fox chipped in with nine. Ten players scored in the game.
Marshall was a 24-15 winner over Effingham in seventh-grade play.
Marshall held a 10-7 halftime lead then had a 12-2 third quarter run.
Cameron Moon and Bryden Kade led the Mustangs with three points each.

Jasper County and Red Hill (Bridgeport) split victories in action Monday evening.
Jasper County was a 46-26 winner in the seventh-grade game. Jasper County took a 10-2 opening quarter lead and led 21-7 at halftime.
Chase Kistner led the winners with 17 points. Brenden Emmerich was the top rebounder and top defender.
Jasper County's seventh-grade team is 8-3.
Red Hill was a 42-37 winner in eighth-grade action. Jasper County held 22-18 lead at halftime but Red Hill came back with a 12-2 final period for the victory.
Maddox Horner led Jasper County with eight points and was the top defender. Mack Huber was the top rebounder. Jasper County dropped to 9-2.
