The Bulldogs edged out to an 18-13 opening quarter lead as Ryan Schmidt connected on three baskets for six points. Jesse Weidner kept the Cardinals close with eight points as he hit a regular basket and two three-pointers.
The Bulldogs held a 31-24 halftime lead. Weidner continued to keep the Cardinals close with eight more points but that was the last points he was to score in the contest.
The Bulldogs went on a 27-9 third period run as Collin Westendorf went on a tear, scoring five baskets for 12 points while Brock Fearday added seven and Ryan Schmidt six.
St. Anthony ended with a 12-5 final period. Brent Henry scored eight of those points.
Schmidt finished with 15 points as the leader of four players in double figures. Schmidt connected on seven field goals and was one of two at the line. Westendorf and B. Fearday added 14 each while Brady Hatton scored 10.
North Clay was led by Weidner with 16 points and Carder Walden with 10. The Cardinals dropped to 0-1 in the National Trail Conference, 1-3 overall.
St. Anthony also claimed the junior varsity contest, 60-26. Brent scored 27 to lead the Bulldogs while Will Fearday chipped in with 17.
North Clay claimed a freshman/sophomore win, 31-22.

At Altamont
Altamont ripped out to a 23-10 opening quarter lead and finished with a 68-53 win over Vandalia in a non-conference matchup Friday.
The Indians' Dillan Elam went on a field goal tear, connecting on two three-pointers and hitting a regular basket for eight points in the period. Eli Miller chipped in with six while the Indians hit seven of eight free throws.
Kaidyn Miller took over the scoring in the second quarter with a 10 point run as Altamont held a 39-21 halftime lead.
Vandalia came back with a 17-12 third quarter but still trailed by 13 points. But the Indians got back on track with a 17- 13 final period.
Elam and K. Miller led the way with 18 points each. Elam hit seven field goals, four of those from three-point range, while Miller connected on eight field goals and was two of two at the line. Also in double figures was E. Miller with 12 points.

Newton ran out to a 35-19 halftime lead and went on to beat Paris, 63-26 Friday.
The Eagles had three players hit double digits in the contest. Caden Nichols led the way with 19 points on eight field goals that included three trifectas and he also pulled down seven rebounds. Dylan Gier added 16 points and seven rebounds while Gus Bierman chipped in with 13.
Newton now sports a perfect 4-0 record on the season.

At Strasburg
Dieterich stepped out to a 25-8 opening quarter lead and went on for a 67-36 win over Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg Friday evening.
Caleb Gephart tallied 29 points on 12 field goals, one a three-pointer, and four of four at the line. Also in double figures was Lucas Westendorf with 13 points.
Gephart got Dieterich off in the right direction in the opening quarter as he connected on five field goals, his one three-pointer, and two of two at the line for 13 of his team's 25 points.
Eight other Movin' Maroons players scored in the contest. Dieterich improved to 1-0 in the National Trail Conference, 4-1 overall.
Windsor/Stew-Stras was led by Connor Manhart with 16 points on six field goals, three from three-point range, and one of one at the line.
Windsor/Stew-Stras is now 0-1 in the NTC, 2-4 overall and returns to action Tuesday at Arcola.

St. Elmo/Brownstown trailed Neoga at halftime but came back with a 43-25 second half to claim a 60-50 win over Neoga Friday.
Neoga held an 11-7 opening quarter lead and led 24-17 at halftime. SEB had a 25-12 third quarter run and outscored the Indians 18-13 in the final period.
St. Elmo/Brownstown was led by Adam Atwood with 26 points and six rebounds. He also had three steals.
Cade Schaub chipped in with 13 points and led in steals with six.

Cumberland claimed a 53-45 victory over Oblong/Palestine/Hutsonville in Friday action.
The Pirates held a 12-9 opening quarter lead and led 25-17 at halftime. OPH came back with a 17-15 third quarter to pull within six points. But Cumberland had a 13-11 final period.
Two players hit double digits for the Pirates. Zack Harman led the way with 20 points on eight field goals and four of 12 at the free throw line. Kelby Bierman added 16 points.
