Effingham Sacred Heart and Sigel St. Michael picked up a victory each in junior high boys basketball action Tuesday.

St. Michael was a 42-33 winner in the seventh-grade contest  The Sharpshooters held a 24-12 halftime lead and held off Sacred Heart in the second half.

Ballinger scored 22 and Dasenborck 11 for St. Michael.

Sacred Heart was led by Mason Karolewicz with 10.

In the eighth-grade game, Sacred Heart claimed a 45-23 victory. The Shamrocks had a 19-13 opening half lead then outscored St. Michael 26-10 in the second half.

Owen Schuette scored 20 points for the winners while Dom Weilgos added 10.

St. Michael was led by Fearday with 13.

At Effingham

Effingham handed Salem a loss in the seventh-grade game Tuesday.

The Mustangs led 14-11 at halftime then had a 10-5 third quarter and finished out with a 31-25 victory.

Truett Pals scored 10 points to lead Effingham, which improved to 2-7.

Effingham held a 23-18 halftime lead in eighth-grade action and had a 21-6 third quarter for a 49-33 win.

Carson Fox led the Mustangs with 20 points while Jenner Pals chipped in with 16.

At Marshall

Teutopolis scored in the 50 point range for both games and both wins over Marshall Tuesday.

The Wooden Shoes won the seventh-grade game 51-18. T-town had a 29-14 halftime lead.

Kale Goeckner led the way with 12 points.

In eighth-grade play, T-town ripped out to a 25-3 opening quarter lead and went on for a 52-14 win.

Tyson Brooks scored 10 to lead the way for the Shoes.

At Altamont

Dieterich claimed two victories over Altamont Tuesday evening.

Dieterich won the seventh-grade encounter 44-33. Altamont held an 11-4 opening quarter lead but Dieterich came back to lead 21-18 at halftime then had an 11-4 third period run.

Goeckner and Bierman led the way with 12 points each for Dieterich.

Altamont was led by Xavier Logue with 22 points.

In the eighth-grade game, Dieterich again ran out to a big lead, 14-4 after the opening quarter and 31-11 at halftime.

Bryce Bohnhoff led the way with 12 points while 11 players scored in the game.

Altamont was led by Durbin with nine.

At Robinson

Jasper County fell in the seventh-grade contest to Robinson, 37-19. Robinson took a 14-0 opening quarter lead and never looked back.

Branden Emmerich and Jacob Ferguson scored seven points each for Jasper County. Benden Emmerich was the top rebounder while Chase Kistner was the top defender. The team dropped to 6-3.

In eighth-grade play, Jasper County was a 53-42 winner. Jasper County led 24-16 at halftime and had a 28-17 second half run.

Eli Wolf scored 14, Chance Mulvey 13 and Maddox Horner 10 for the winners. Wolf was the top defender and Mack Huber was the top reobunds.

Jasper County improved to 8-1.

At Kinmundy

South Central and Stewardson-Strasburg split victories Tuesday evening.

In seventh-grade action, South Central won by a 36-23 count.

Stew-Stras held a 12-11 halftime lead but South Central came back with a 15-5 third quarter run and outscored Stew-Stras 10-6 in the final quarter.

Hoover led the way for the winners with 12 points while Guerrettaz added 10.

Stew-Stras won the eighth-grade game 40-39. Stew-Stras held a 26-17 halftime lead but South Central came back with a 22-14 second half run but Stras-Stras hung on.

North Clay (Louisville) won both games over Neoga in Tuesday action.

North Clay was a 55-16 winner in seventh-grade play with a 24-10 halftime lead.

Lewis led with 19 points while Ruholl added 10 for the winners.

Neoga was led by Strobl with 12.

In eighth-grade play, North Clay ran out to an 18-7 opening half lead and downed Neoga, 37-18.

Adair led the winners with 12 points.

Neoga was led by Haarman with eight points.
