Effingham St. Anthony captured two victories over Vandalia in junior high boys basketball Tuesday evening.

The Bullpups won the seventh-grade contest, 51-11. St. Anthony pulled ahead 21-11 at halftime then held Vandalia scoreless for a 29-0 second half.

Blake Verdeyen scored 20 points for the winners, hitting nine field goals, one from three point range, and one of two at the line. Charlie Bierman added nine points.

In the eighth-grade matchup, St. Anthony was a 37-15 winner. The Bullpups led 16-7 at halftime and had an 11-0 third quarter run.

Conner Storm led the way with 12 points while Cooper Sehy added eight.

At Salem

Altamont fell to Salem in both games Tuesday evening.

Salem won the seventh-grade contest 55-2. Altamont scored its two points in the opening quarter when Xavier Logue hit a basket.

In the eighth-grade contest, Salem claimed a 61-15 victory.

Salem led 33-8 at halftime. Altamont was led in scoring by James Durbin with six points.

At Sigel

Jasper County edged Sigel St. Michael 33-31 in the seventh-grade game Tuesday.

St. Michael held a 10-8 opening quarter lead and led 21-16 at halftime. Jasper County came back with a 10-3 third period and finished out with the victory.

Cambell Ulm scored 15 for the winners while Jacob Ferguson finished with 10. Top rebounder was Ferguson and top defender was Chase  Kistner. Jasper County improved to 6-1.

Zach Ordner led St. Michael with 13 points.

In the eighth-grade game, Jasper County zipped out to a 22-9 opening quarter lead and went on for a 53-20 win.

Three players hit double digits for the winners. Chance Mulvey tallied 15 while Eli Wolf and Mack Huber scored 10 each. Wolf was the top defender and Ian Kessler the top rebounder. Jasper County is now 6-1.

Evan Fearday led  St. Michael with seven points and Liam Strohl added six.

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis defeated Robinson in both games Tuesday evening.

The Wooden Shoes won the seventh-grade encounter 41-24. T-town took an 18-8 halftime lead. Sam Probst led in scoring with 14 points.

In the eighth-grade contest, T-town roared out to a 22-0 opening quarter lead and was a 50-15 winner.

Jake Probst led the winners with 12 points while Eric Weidner added eight.
