Belleville East Downs EHS at St. Anthony Turkey Tournament

The Hearts held a 12-11 opening quarter lead as KJ Kellam knocked in a three-pointer and a free throw while Wade Bushur and Ethan Jones connected on two free throws each and Spencer Fox and Rylan Pals had a basket each.
But Belleville East got on a 25-12 second quarter roll to lead 37-24 at halftime.
The winners came out in the third quarter and went on a 21-3 roll, leaving the Hearts behind 57-27 going into the final quarter.
Belleville East had three players connect on three-pointers and seven score in the period.
Effingham missed on nine shots from the field and got its points on two free throws by Pals and a free throw by Nolan Fearday.
Belleville East then had a 14-8 final period to finish out the scoring.
Tallis Lowery led the winners with 13 points while Jacori Brown, Christian Jenkins and Jalen Coleman tallied nine points each. The Lancers hit nine three-pointers in the contest led by Lowery with three.
Effingham was led by Pals with 10 points on three field goals, two of those three-pointers, and two of two at the line.
The Hearts hit 11 of 37 field goals for 29.2 percent while Belleville East hit 29 of 53 for 54.7 percent. EHS was 56.3 percent from the free throw line.
In the second contest, Champaign Central edged Robinson, 65-63.
The final game of the evening saw Breese Central beat Mattoon, 60-36.
Tonight's games feature Effingham against Rantoul at 5 p.m., Robinson taking on Mattoon at 6:30 and St. Anthony finishing out against Belleville East at 8.
