T-town Third At Centralia Tourney, Girls Basketball Roundup

CENTRALIA -- Teutopolis High School finished third in the Centralia Girls Basketball Tournament Saturday.

The tourney opened Thursday as T-town fell to Breese Mater Dei, 54-21 and Centralia won over Highland, 43-28.

In Saturday action, Highland downed the Wooden Shoes 44-24. Highland held a 22-13 halftime lead. T-town came back with a 9-8 third quarter but Highland finished out 14-2.

Chloe Probst led the Shoes with 11 points, hitting four field goals, two from three-point range, and a free throw.

T-town then came back with a 51-28 victory over Centralia.

T-town took a 14-6 opening quarter lead as Anna Probst hit a three-pointer and a regular basket and four other players connected. The Shoes led 25-15 at halftime.

T-town then had an 11-6 third quarter run and finished strong with a 15-9 final period.

Chloe Probst tallied 12 points to lead the Shoes on five field goals and two of two at the line. A. Probst chipped in with 10 and Isabelle Zerrusen added nine.

In the final game of the tourney, Breese Mater Dei won over Centralia 47-34.

Mater Dei won the tournament with a 3-0 record followed by Centralia 2-1, Teutopolis 1-2 and Highland 0-3.

At Effingham

In a Friday contest, Effingham High School  defeated Dieterich, 54-24.

The Hearts ripped out to a 22-1 opening quarter lead as Alyssa Martin knocked in two baskets and two free throws for six points. Bella Austin added six points on two three-pointers and Bria Beals connected on a three-pointer.

The lone point for the Movin' Maroons was a free throw from Kady Tegeler.

The Hearts then had a 20-8 second quarter to lead 42-9 at halftime. Sidney Donaldson connected on three baskets for six points in the quarter while Rylea Hodge and Kristen Armstrong hit a three-pointer each.

The two teams played to an 8-8 third quarter and Effingham had a 4-2 final period.

Martin finished with 11 points on four field goals and three of four at the line. Donaldson tallied 10.

Dieterich was led by Miley Britton with 10 points on four field goals, two of those from three-point range.

In junior varsity play, Effingham won 47-16. Leading the Hearts were Tessa Raddatz with 11 and Mya Harvey with nine.

Leading Dieterich was Sammi Goebel with seven.

At Windsor

Sullivan came calling and won over Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg, 48-29 Friday.

Sullivan took a 15-9 opening quarter lead and led 22-12 at halftime. The visitors then had a 17-6 third period run.

Addison Minor led the winners with 14 points.

Windsor/Stew-Stras was led by Ella Kinkelaar and Morgan Mathis with nine points each. Mathis hit three trifectas. Kinkelaar scored on a regular basket, a three-pointer and was four of four at the line.
