Junior High Girls Basketball -- Nov. 7 Results

CASEY -- Effingham St. Anthony traveled to Casey-Westfield and fell in both seventh- and eighth-grade girls basketball competition Tuesday.

Casey-Westfield was a 20-15 winner in the seventh-grade contest. The two teams were tied at 4-4 after the opening quarter and Casey-Westfield edged ahead 8-7 at halftime. Casey-Westfield then had an 8-3 third quarter and held off the Bullpups in the final period.

Semple and Bella Schultz led the Bullpups with five each.

In eighth-grade play, Casey-Westfield was a 34-16 winner, taking a 17-11 halftime lead then outscoring St. Anthony 17-5 in the second half.

Carly Budde led the way for St. Anthony with nine points.

At Altamont

Teutopolis came calling and captured two victories over host Altamont Tuesday.

The Wooden Shoes improved to 18-1 on the season by bouncing Altamont 33-4 in seventh-grade play.

Stella Deters tallied seven points while Faith Ruholl added six for the winners.

Altamont was led by Ruholl with four points.

In eighth-grade play, T-town stepped out to a 23-11 halftime lead and went on for a 40-21 victory.

Ella Willenborg scored 17 to lead the Shoes who are now 13-6 on the season.

Altamont was led by Long with eight points.

At Beecher City

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City and Shelbyville both picked up a victory during action Tuesday evening.

CHBC was a 16-14 winner in the seventh-grade matchup in overtime. CHBC took a 6-4 opening quarter lead and led 10-9 at halftime. CHBC then had a 2-0 third quarter to lead 12-9. Shelbyville came back with a 5-2 fourth quarter to knot the score at 14-14, sending the contest into overtime. CHBC then had scored a basket for the win in OT.

Elaina Thompson scored six points for the winners as CHBC improved to 10-9.

In eighth-grade action, Shelbyville was a 31-29 winner. The two teams were tied at 11-11 at halftime before CHBC moved ahead in the third quarter 21-19. But Shelbyville came back with a 12-8 final quarter to pull out the win.

Ethel Stuckemeyer led CHBC with nine points as the team dropped to 5-12.

At Louisville

North Clay tallied a victory over Neoga in eighth-grade action, 53-17.

In the seventh-grade contest, Neoga was a 33-12 winner.

In a fifth-sixth grade game, Neoga won 14-12.

North Clay is now 7-2 in the National Trail Conference, 14-5 overall.
