Mount Zion played host to Effingham in junior high girls basketball and claimed both victories Friday.

 

Mount Zion won the seventh-grade contest, 33-10. Mount Zion held a 20-6 halftime lead.

The Mustangs were led by April Martin with eight points.

In eighth-grade action, Mount Zion claimed a 47-20 victory. The homestanders took an 18-0 opening quarter lead.

Effingham was led by Yvonne Robinson and Keagyn Koenig with six points each.

At Newton

Teutopolis and Jasper County split victories in Friday action.

T-town was a 56-17 wniner in the seventh-grade contest to improve to 8-0.

Maggie Drees tallied 14 points and Grace Martin 12 for the Shoes.

Jasper County was led by Wagner with 12.

In eighth-grade play, Jasper County was a 27-19 winner. The two teams were tied at 7-7 at halftime before Jasper County went into a 7-4 third quarter and had a 13-8 final period.

Bergbower scored 14 for the winners while Brummer added nine.

T-town was led by Ella Wilenborg with nine as the Shoes fell to 6-2.

At Loisville

North Clay (Louisville) defeated Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Friday.

North Clay won the seventh-grade game 19-12 and captured the eighth-grade contest 36-10.

North Clay's eighth-grade team is now 5-2 in the National Trail Conference and 8-3 overall.
