Effingham St. Anthony played host to a tough Taylorville squad in girls junior high basketball action and fell twice Monday.

 

Taylorville claimed the seventh-grade contest, 29-8 with a 21-2 opening half run.

St. Anthony was led by Bella Schultz and Caelyn Buehnerkemper with three points each.

In eighth-grade action, Taylorville captured a 22-3 victory, holding the Bullpups to two opening half points.

Sydney Stephens scored two points for St. Anthony.

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis pounded Mattoon in both seventh- and eighth-grade play Monday.

In the seventh-grade game, T-town held a 14-3 halftime lead then had an 11-0 third quarter run. The Shoes finished out with a 31-7 win.

Maggie Drees scored 14 points for the winners who are now 3-0 on the season.

In eighth-grade play, T-town moved ahead 17-3 at halftime and won 29-6 to also improve to 3-0.

Ella Willenborg scored 10 points while Avery Probst added nine.

At Dieterich

Dieterich and Oblong split in seventh- and eighth-grade play Monday.

Dieterich won the seventh-grade contest, 16-10. Claire Faller led the way with six points.

Faller and Lexie Funneman led in rebounds with six reach.

In the eighth-grade contest, Oblong claimed a 28-18 victory. Ava Niemerg led Dieterich with eight points.

Allison Boerngen pulled down 12 rebounds and Lydia Fuesting six.
