Effingham St. Anthony and Altamont split victories in junior high girls basketball action Monday.

The Bullpups won the seventh-grade game, 23-14. St. Anthony held a 9-4 first half lead.

Schultz tallied eight points to lead St. Anthony while Griffith had six points.

Altamont was led by Ruholl with 10 points.

In eighth-grade play, Altamont claimed a 34-10 victory.

Altamont ripped out to a 17-0 opening quarter lead and led 26-8 at halftime.

Kuenstler and Roberts scored eight points each for the winners. St. Anthony was led by Budde with four points.

At Stewardson

Cowden-HerrickBeecher City and Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg split wins Monday evening.

CHBC won the seventh-grade encounter, 20-11 to improve to 2-1 in the National Trail Conference and overall.

Valentina Doty led CHBC with 10 points.

WSS was led by M. Manhart and K. Morris with four points each. WSS is now 0-2 in the conference and overall.

In eighth-grade action, Windsor/Stras-Stras was a 36-20 winner. WSS edged out to a 6-4 opening quarter lead then had a 26-10 run over the next two quarters.

Jackie Vonderheide scored 18 and Edie Wittenborg 12 for the winners who improved to 2-0 in the conference and overall.

CHBC was led by Ethel Stuckemeyer, Carissa Wakefield and Allison Shields with six points each. CHBC dropped to 2-1 in the conference and overall.
