Altamont, T-town To Play For Sectional Championships Tonight

Altamont and Teutopolis will be playing for boys basketball sectional championships tonight.

Altamont is hosting the Class 1A Sectional and will be meeting Tuscola in the championship game at 7 p.m.

The two teams met earlier in the season at the NTC/CIC Clash Shootout at Altamont. Tuscola came out the winner by a 64-38 count.

In that contest, Altamont's Mason Robinson was the lone player in double figures with 10. Tuscola was led by Jordan Quinn with 23, Kam Sweetnam with 14 and Parker James with 10. The Warriors connected on 14 three-pointers in the game as Quinn had five and Sweetnam four.

But, Altamont has come a long way from that point, especially claiming a 61-59 win over Casey-Westfield in an exciting contest Tuesday in the sectional.

The Indians had three players hit double figures as Robinson scored 27, Dillan Elam 13 and Avery Jahraus 12.

Tuscola reached the championship contest by edging Effingham St. Anthony, 48-45.

Altamont comes into the meeting with a 29-4 record while Tuscola counters with a 28-6 mark.

The winner advances to the Class 1A Carbondale Super-Sectional Monday and will face either Webber Township (Bluford) or Mounds Meridian at 6 p.m. Those two teams meet tonight for the championship of the Junction Gallatin County Sectional.

Teutopolis will be competing for the championship of the Class 2A Newton Sectional against Lawrenceville tonight. Game time is 7pm, pregame coverage at 6:45pm.

The Wooden Shoes defeated Alton Marquette easily 54-28 Wednesday. Caleb Siemer scored 20 points while Brendan Niebrugge added 17.

Lawrenceville was a 73-64 overtime winner over Greenville Tuesday. to advance to the title contest. Lawrenceville was led by Bryant Jenkins with 34 points. He scored 10 of Lawrenceville's 17 points in the overtime. Also in double figures was Landon Sanders with 17 and Leyton Ivers with 12.

The Redskins sport a 26-8 record while T-town answers with a 26-7 mark.

The winner advances to the Class 2A Carbondale Super-Sectional Monday at Southern Illinois University for a 7:30 p.m. contest against the winner of the Pinckneyville Sectional, either Pinckneyville or Breese Central.
