ALTAMONT -- With the house rocking and the noise level above the safety margin, Altamont High School came from a 20-point deficit to edge Casey-Westfield 61-59 in the Class 1A Altamont Boys Basketball Sectional Tuesday evening.

Casey-Westfield seemed in control through the first three quarters of the game. The Warriors ran out to a 22-10 opening quarter lead on a shell-shocked Altamont squad.

Four players hit the scoreboard for the Warriors in even scoring as Ryan Richards and Hayden Parcel scored six each and Jackson Parcel and Connor Sullivan tallied five apiece. Casey-Westfield connected on four three-pointers in that opening quarter run.

Although the scoring calmed down for both clubs, Casey-Westfield still held a 33-21 halftime lead. Both teams connected for 11 second period points. Avery Jahraus kept the Indians in the game with two three-pointers and Dillan Elam had one.

The Indians were hitting 50 percent in both periods but weren't getting off the shots they needed to in keeping up with Casey-Westfield.

Although the Indians outscored Casey-Westfield 18-13 in the third quarter, the Warriors took a 20-point lead with 5:13 in the quarter on a basket by J. Parcel.

Mason Robinson, who scored seven points in the opening half, went to work in the period. The senior hit four regular baskets and a three-pointer for 11 of the 18 points. Elam added two baskets and Logan Cornett a three-pointer.

Eli Miller came in and provided the defensive spark for the Indians in the second half.

Then came the fateful final quarter.

Avery Jahraus hit a three-pointer on a 26-6 run by Altamont to tie the score at 49-49 with a little over three minutes to play in the contest.

Robinson showed his senior leadership by connecting on three baskets and was a perfect three of three at the line in the final quarter. He pulled down an offensive rebound and put it back and had an assist on basket by Miller.

In the final four seconds of the game, Altamont had fouls to give and Casey-Westfield inbounded the ball and got it to J. Parcel. A foul was called against Altamont and it was ruled J. Parcel  was in the act of shooting a three-pointer. He missed his first free throw, connected on the second and missed the third.

Altamont's Elam rebounded and was fouled with one second left. He hit his first and missed the second. Parcel grabbed the rebound and threw the ball and it went above the rafters, came down and hit the side of the rim and bounced off as the buzzer sounded, giving Altamont the two-point victory and the crowd went wild.

Robinson led the way for Altamont with 10 of 15 from the field and five of eight at the line for 27 points. He pulled down 10 rebounds.

Also in double figures for the Indians were Elam with 13 and Av. Jahraus with 12.

Casey-Westfield was led by Jackson Parcel with 28 points and Ryan Richards with 10. The Warriors ended the season with a 19-11 record.

Altamont advances to the sectional championship with a 29-4 record. The Indians will face either Effingham St. Anthony or Tuscola for the sectional crown Friday at 7 p.m. St. Anthony and Tuscola meet tonight at 7.
