North Clay Downs South Central In Boys Basketball

LOUISVILLE -- North Clay High School played host to South Central as the regular season for boys basketball is coming to a close this week.

The Cardinals took the early lead and went on for a 65-26 victory. North Clay edged out to an 18-13 opening quarter lead as Logan Fleener hit two three-pointers and two regular baskets for 10 points. Meanwhile South Central's Aiden Dodson scored seven points and Ethan Watwood hit two three-pointers.

But North Clay took off with a 16-9 second period to lead 34-22 at halftime.

North Clay then had a 19-0 third quarter run to lead 53-22 going into the final period.

Four players hit double figures for the Cardinals. Fleener led the way with 10 field goals, two from three-point range, for 22 points while Cody Zimdars added 11 and Levi Smith and Alex Boose 10 points each. The Cardinals finished with eight three-pointers in the game led by Zimdars with three and Fleener and Bosoe with two each.

South Central was led by Dodson with 14 points on six field goals and two of four at the line.

North Clay is 6-2 in the National Trail Conference and 20-9 overall.

South Central dropped to 3-5 in the conference and 21-10 overall.

The Cougars won the junior varsity game, 47-34.
