SEB, Dieterich, N. Clay, WSS Win at NTC/CIC Boys Shootout

ALTAMONT -- St. Elmo/Brownstown, Dieterich, North Clay (Louisville) and Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg captured victories at the National Trail Conference/Central Illinois Conference Boys Basketball Shootout hosted by the Altamont Sports Booster Club Saturday.

In the opener, Moweaqua Central A&M edged Neoga, 51-50.

Neoga took a 15-14 opening quarter lead behind two three-pointers by Brady Reynolds. But Central A&M had a 12-4 second period run to lead 26-19 at halftime.

Neoga had a 15-9 third period to pull within 35-34 going into the final quarter. But the two teams then played even and CAM captured the one-point win.

Leading Neoga were Reynolds with 15, Quintin Richards with 14 and Landon Titus with 11.

In the second contest, Meridian handed Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City a 66-53 loss. Meridian held a 25-23 halftime lead then had a 16-12 third period and opened it up with a 25-18 final quarter.

CHBC was led by Kaidyn Calame with 19 points on six field goals, five of those from three-point range, and two of two at the line. Clayton Wojcik chipped in with 10 points.

Dieterich connected on its free throws in a 46-42 win over Warrensburg-Latham in game four.

The Movin' Maroons played to a 6-6 opening quarter tie and were tied at 14-14 at halftime. Warrensburg-Latham moved ahead 29-27 in the third quarter.

But Dieterich connected on 12 of 16 free throws in the final period for the four-point win and finished with 13 of 18 for the game.

Tanner Will hit six of seven from the free throw line along with four baskets to tally 14 points. Lucas Westendorf also had 14 points on three three-pointers and five of seven at the line. Caleb Gephart finished with 11.

North Clay (Louisville) tallied an 83-74 win over Shelbyville in the fifth game of the day.

The Cardinals stepped out to a 22-17 opening quarter lead behind Levi Smith and Logan Fleener's eight points each. The lead was only four points, 44-40 at halftime.

But North Clay had an 18-14 third quarter and finished with a 21-20 final period run.

The Cardinals had five players hit double digits. Fleener tallied 23 points on nine field goals and five of eight at the line while Cody Zimdars scored 19, Levi Smith 16, Alex Boose 13 and Jesse Weidner 10.

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg took the sixth game of the day from Casey-Westfield, 60-52.

The two teams played to a 13-13 opening quarter. Windsor/Stew-Stras moved ahead with a 15-10 second period to lead 28-23 at halftime. Austin Wittenberg hit two free throws and two three-pointers in the quarter while Carter Chaney tallied five.

In the third period, Casey-Westfield came back with a slight 12-11 edge to pull within four points.

But the final quarter was the Hatchets as they had a 21-17 run. A. Wittenberg nailed three two-point baskets and was eight of nine at the line for 14 points in the period.

A. Wittenberg finished with 30 points on eight field goals, three of those from three-point range and 11 of 13 at the line. Dylan Curry chipped in with 10.

In the final game of the day, Tuscola knocked in 14 three-pointers to down Altamont, 64-38.

The Warriors took a 17-13 opening quarter lead behind seven points by Josiah Hortin. Altamont had four baskets and five free throws.

In the second period, it was mostly three-pointers for Tuscola as the squad hit five baskets, four of those from three-point range, to lead 31-19 at halftime.

Tuscola had a 17-13 third quarter and finished out with a 16-6 final period.

The Warriors hit 14 three-pointers led by Jordan Quinn with five and Kam Sweetnam with four.

Altamont was led by Mason Robinson with 10 points on four baskets and two of two at the line.
