EHS Drops Into Third Place At Hillsboro Frosh Tourney

HILLSBORO -- Effingham High School fell to Auburn, 46-37, in the Hillsboro Freshman Boys Basketball Tournament Monday.

The Hearts took a 16-10 opening quarter lead on the Hiltoppers. Wendling scored six points and McDaniel hit a three-pointer for EHS.

The Hearts held a 28-20 halftime lead as Buzzard scored five points and McDaniel hit a second three-pointer.

But Hillsboro came out with an 18-3 third quarter to lead 38-31 and went into the final period with an 8-6 score for the winning margin.

Buzzard led the way for the Hearts with nine points.

The Hearts drop into the third place contest today at 6:45 p.m.
