Effingham St. Anthony won the championship of its own Class 8-2A regional Thursday.
Class 8-2A Effingham St. Anthony Regional
St. Anthony claimed the championship of its own regional.
The Bullpups captured a 54-47 win over Casey-Westfield.
Casey-Westfield held a 9-7 opening quarter lead and led 19-14 at halftime.
The Bullpups came back with a 15-10 third period to tie the score at 29-29. Then both teams scored 13 in the final period and were knotted at 42-42 sending the game into overtime. Waldhoff connected on nine of his team's 13 points in the final period.
In the overtime quarter, Looman knocked in four points on two baskets while Waldhoff had four from the free throw line. Bierman hti a basket and Wilhour had two free throws and the Bullpups had a 12-5 run for the championship.
Waldhoff led the way for St. Anthony with seven field goals, three from three-point range, and six of six free throws. Wilhour finished with 12.
St. Anthony advances to the Casey-Westfield Sectional Monday and will meet Assumption Central A&M, a 24-21 winner over Nokomis Wednesday at the Stewardson-Strasburg Regional.

Class 8-3A Teutopolis Regional
Teutopolis captured the championship of its own regional with a 40-36 victory over Macon Meridian.
The Wooden Shoes edged out to a 14-10 opening quarter lead and led 24-17 at halftime. Macon Meridian came back with an 11-8 third quarter to pull within 32-28. The two teams then played to an 8-8 final quarter.
Teagan Pals and Jake Kocher led the way withi 10 points each and Ross Bloemer added eight.
T-town is now 24-3 on the season and will face another area squad, Cumberland at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Paris Mayo Sectional.

Class 8-3A Cumberland Regional
Cumberland took on Lawrenceville Parkview in the championship of its own regional Thursday.
The homestanders picked up a 30-15 victory and now advance to meet Teutopolis Monday in the Paris Mayo Sectonal at 6:30 p.m.
Class 8-4A Mount Zion Regional
The winner of this regional was Rochester over Mattoon, 36-26 Thursday.
Rochester advances to the Mahomet-Seymour Sectional Monday against Champaign Edison.
Effingham competed in this regional.
