Cumberland Beats Martinsville In Girls Basketball

Cumberland High School ran out to a 17-7 opening quarter lead and went on for a 57-19 win over Martinsville in the lone girls basketball contest played Monday.

The Pirates held a 37-9 halftime lead.

Four players hit double figures for Coach Samara James' team. Katelyn Shoemaker led the way with 14 points on six field goals that included two three-pointers. Abbie Becker and Isabel Martinez tallied 12 points each and Jade Carr finished with 10.
