Charleston edged out to an 8-6 opening quarter lead but the Hearts came back to knot the score at 15-15 at halftime.

The Trojans then had a 10-4 third quarter and held off a challenge by the Hearts in the final period.

Effingham was led by Gallon with seven points and Wagoner and Gilbert with six each.
