Finals Set For NTC Girls Basketball Tourney

Neoga and Effingham St. Anthony, the No.1 and No. 2 seeds, both picked up victories Thursday evening and will square off for the championshp Saturday at 7 p.m.
Neoga handed North Clay (Louisville) a 49-33 loss.
The Cardinals stepped out to a 16-11 opening quarter lead on Neoga but the Indians came back with a 10-3 second period to lead 21-19 at halftime.
Neoga then took over the contest with a 15-11 third quarter and a 13-3 final period.
Sydney Richards led the way for the winners with 19 points on eight field goals, three of those trifectas. Also in double figures was Allison Sampson with 10.
North Clay was led by Miah Ballard with 18 and Alexis VanDyke with 11. VanDyke connected on a trio of three-pointers. Ballard hit the other three-pointer along with four regular baskets and seven of eight from the field.
Brownstown/St. Elmo took a 14-8 opening quarter lead on St. Anthony and was still ahead at halftime, 25-24.
It didn't look good for the Bulldogs who came out in the third quarter and BSE continued to rule with a 13-7 run to lead 38-31 going into the final quarter.
That's when St. Anthony got on a roll. The Bulldogs went on a 21 point run while Brownstown/St. Elmo cooled off with only five points. The Bulldogs pulled out the nine-point victory.
Stacie Vonderheide led the way for St. Anthony with 18 points on four field goals and 10 of 14 at the line. Nancy Ruholl and Lucy Fearday scored 13 points each.
Brownstown/St. Elmo was led by Lexi Seabaugh with 12 points on five field goals and two of two at the line.
St. Anthony hit 19 of 27 free throws while BSE had eight attempts and connected on five.
In the opening game of the evening, Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City was a 64-44 winner over South Central.
CHBC edged out to an 18-11 opening quarter lead and led 34-22 at halftime. The Bobcats then had a 30-22 second half.
Macee Rodman and Gracie Heckert led the way with 17 points each. Rodman hit eight field goals, one a three-pointer and four of four at the line while Heckert connected on six field goals, one a three-pointer. Madison Wojcik also hit double figures with 10 points.
South Central was led by Taegan Webster with 18 points on nine field goals. Brooklyn Garrett added 12 and Kaitlyn Swift had 10.
