Effingham captured two victories over Effingham Sacred Heart in junior high boys basketball Tuesday.

The Mustangs won the seventh-grade contest, 46-27. Effingham had a 14-2 second quarter run and a 15-7 third period.

Carson Fox led the way for Effingham with 16 points while Jenner Pals added 13. EJHS improved to 14-6.

Sacred Heart was led by Mooney with 15 points.

In eighth-grade action, Effingham claimed a 42-28 victory.

The Mustangs edged out to a 7-5 opening quarter then had a 10-2 second period.

Carter Braddy led the way with 29 points for the winners. 

The Shamrocks were led by Hecht and Traub with nine points each.

At St. Elmo

Dieterich tallied 49 points in both seventh- and eighth-grade play to beat St. Elmo/Brownstown Tuesday.

Dieterich picked up a 49-11 victory in the seventh-grade contest. Dieterich took a 22-4 opening quarter lead and that was the game.

Bryce Bohnhoff led with 12 points while Alex Schottman added nine and Blake Westendorf eight.

St. Elmo/Brownstown was led by Gillespie with four.

In eighth-grade action, Dieterich won 49-32.

Dieterich led 27-17 at halftime and 36-23 goingi nto the final quarter.

Three players hit double digits for the winners. Gavin Meinhart led with 20 points while Ezra Cook added 12 and Levi Brummer 10.

St. Elmo/Brownstown was led by Wollin with 12 and Willms with 10.
