Effingham Sacred Heart and Dieterich split victories in junior high boys basketball Thursday evening.

Dieterich was a winner in the seventh-grade game, 54-26. Two players hit double figures for the winners. Bohnhoff tallied 20 and A. Schottman added 15.

The Shamrocks were led by Mooney with 12.

In eighth-grade play, Sacred Heart claimed a 42-21 victory. The Shamrocks held a 20-13 halftime lead.

Traub scored 15, Hecht 13 and Warner 12 for the winners.

Dieterich was led by French with seven.

At Effingham

Effingham tallied two victories over Altamont in junior high boys action Thursday.

The Mustangs won the seventh-grade contest, 56-15. EJHS held a 33-9 halftime lead and held Altamont scoreless in the third quarter.

Jenner Pals scored 15 points while Carson Fox chipped in with 14. Effingham is now 13-4 on the season.

Altamont was led by Parker, Cage and G. Beccue with three points each.

In the eighth-grade game, Effingham had a 17-4 second period run and went on for a 48-16 victory.

Carter Braddy led the way as the lone player in double figures with 21. Jake Niebrugge chipped in with nine.

Altamont was led by Reardon with six points.

At Shelbyville

Effingham St. Anthony claimed a 68-48 win over Shelbyville in eighth-grade action Thursday.

The Bullpups ran out to a 25-6 opening quarter lead and that was the game.

Grayden Wilhour and Miles Waldhoff were the one-two scoring punch for St. Anthony with 20 points each. Also in double figures was Gabe Looman with 14. St. Anthony is now 11-8 on the season.

Teutopolis handed Stewardson-Strasburg losses in both seventh- and eighth-grade action Thursday.

The Wooden Shoes held a 25-5 halftime lead in seventh-grade play and went on for a 27-23 victory.

Jake Probst was the lone Wooden Shoes player in double figures with 18.

Stew-Stras was led by Duncan with seven. Stew-Stras is now 13-7 on the season.

In the eighth-grade game, T-town led 26-13 at halftime and tallied a 52-24 win.

Teagan Pals, Ross Bloemer and Jake Kocher scored 10 points each for the Shoes.

Bible led Stew-Stras with 10. Stew-Stras drops to 14-3.

At Strasburg

Jasper County and Cumberland were both winners Thursday evening.

Jasper County picked up the seventh-grade victory, 53-16. Jasper County led 33-8 at halftime and held Cumberland scoreless in the third quarter.

Chance Mulvey tallied 15 for the winners while Maddox Homer added 11. The winners are now 14-1 on the season.

Cumberland was led by Goldberg with six.

In eighth-grade play, Cumberland trailed Jasper County 22-21 at halftime and 36-30 going into the final quarter then had a 14-8 run to pull out a 45-44 win.

Cumberland was led by Venatta and Stewart with nine points each.

Jasper County was led by Logan Burgener with 15. Jasper County dropped to 6-11 on the season.

At Newton

North Clay fell to Sigel St. Michael in both seventh- and eighth-grade play Thursday.

The Sharpshooters won the seventh-grade contest 44-10.

In eighth-grade action, St. Michael claimed a 56-25 win.
