Centralia edged Effingham St. Anthony in eighth-grade boys basketball play Wednesday.

Centralia held a 12-11 opening quarter lead but the Bullpups came back to move ahead 18-17 at halftime.

St. Anthony kept a 31-27 lead going into the final quarter but Centralia tallied a 17-12 final quarter to pull out the 44-43 victory.

G. Wilhour led St. Anthony with 22 points while M. Waldhoff added 15.
