Maroons Claim Two, Cougars Win, CHBC Falls In Close Game At Dieterich Boys Tourney

Dieterich opened with a 58-44 win over Oblong/Palestine/Hutsonville.

The two squads played to a 16-16 opening quarter tie. The Maroons edged ahead 25-18 at halftime and then had an 18-5 third quarter run to seal the victory.

Lucas Westendorf led the charge with 26 points on 12 field goals, one a three-pointer and one of five at thel ine. Also in double figures was Caleb Gephart with 17 points.

South Central defeated Red Hill (Bridgeport), 54-28. The Cougars held a 27-14 halftime lead and finished with an 18-5 final period.

Aidan Dodson was the lone player in double figures for the winners with 27 points on 10 field goals, one a three-pointer and six of 12 at the line.

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City lost a tough one to Grayville, 84-81.

Grayville was a 20-18 leader after the opening quarter and led 43-35 at halftime. CHBC came back with a 46-41 second half run but couldn't get over the hump.

CHBC was led by AJ Radloff with 23 points on 10 field goals and three of five at the line, Kaidyn Calame with 17 points and Carter Bain and Lorton Gage with 12 each.

In the last game of the day, Dieterich beat Sullivan, 54-35. The Maroons led 21-16 at hafltime then had a 19-6 third quarter.

Will Cole tallied 15 while Caleb Gephart added 12 and Garrett Niebrugge 10 for the winners.

In other games, Grayville defeated Red Hill 70-61 and Arcola won over Oblong/Palestine/Hutsonville 61-40.
