Pioneer In Women's Basketball Has Died

Coach Billie Moore, a pioneer in women’s basketball, has died at age 79 in Los Angeles. Moore coached Cal State Fullerton to a national championship in 1970 and did it again at UCLA in 1978.

She was the first head coach of the U.S. women’s Olympic basketball team in 1976 in Montreal, where her team won the silver medal. Moore was elected to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame.
