Effingham Junior High School tallied a 35-31 win over Champaign Edison in seventh-grade boys basketball competition Saturday.

Edison edged out to a 13-12 opening quarter lead but Effingham came back with a 13-6 second period and held on for the victory.

Pals scored 15 for the Mustangs while Kinkelaar added six. EJHS is now 7-4 on the season.

At Central City Shootout

North Clay (Louisville) downed Centralia Raccoon at the Central City Shootout, 46-35.

North Clay is now 6-4 on the season and is back in action Tuesday at Altamont Lutheran.
